Who's to say there is anything wrong with him? My own assumption is that this horse has possibly received a career ending injury, but not one that stops him from being a nice all rounder at a lower level.

As for the video - I assume that's him.

The Op was offered a two week trial - at the viewing she could have had sight of the passport - and then done a lot of homework based on that.

I don't know, maybe I'm not as suspicious as some. And I think that providing you purchase an animal with your eyes wide open, you've done as much as you can to secure a good and healthy purchase.

What's wrong with him that's caused him to be about 100kgs lighter in the recent pics, in the middle of summer, was really my point.

I agree I'd have viewed him if it was localish and perhaps got to the bottom of it.

It is showing a horse doing jumping and eventing from a while ago and listing BSJA, ODE etc. that whilst not dishonest may be misleading to a potential buyer - as you said yourself perhaps it is not capable of that now given the price but it does not say that?

In my mind there is not full disclosure therefore it is dishonest. If it said has done this that and the other but needs a quieter life now then that would be honest. Of course we don't know it's just speculation based on price and the fact that he appears to have been moved on quickly in a short time.

Enough to raise doubts and walk away imo.
 
I believe the definition of a dealer is the sale of three or more horses per year. This was used in my friend's court case.

In addition the original dealer was in Kent and it would be very wise for anyone looking at this horse in Notts to check whether the Kent dealer is the one which Kent police are openly warning about (see other three on this )

If the police were warning people. not to buy from you in Kent, you'd need to ship your horses out of the county to sell them, wouldn't you?

I don't agree. The horse is advertised as a School Master. It shows the horse doing a job that presumably qualifies it to be be just that - a School Master.

This is making me feel I have put the gun to it's head.

The advert is badly worded. What is the point in singing a horses praises and then pricing him in peanuts, it is bound to raise suspicion.

So why don't you go and see him. He looks lovely and you would be going in with your eyes wide open. If all you want to do is hack, you just need to tell your vet when he does your vetting that you'd like him to be sound for hacking and can he see any signs of any long term illness/injury that would prevent him from doing that.

My friends 16 yr old did in his manica flexorum and had to have 6 months field rest. Told he'd be lucky to be a happy hacker but he is now with a new owner and having a great time. My friend sold him to a great home as a happy hacker but he has surpassed all expectations.

You just never know.
 
will not touch with a barhepole being near that kent dealer im afraid.

anyone know of a safe hack that will carry a 5ft10 rider?!

Have a look on Horse Quest - hacking horses.

There are several reasonable looking horses under 2k at the moment. Keep scrolling down, there is a nice type that has done everything, pony club etc been in family for years. Relocating to Italy and looking for a special home. it is 14 but that would not put me off it's sound and you don't want to thrash it.

I'd go and see him out of sheer curiosity. My old lad was an ex-eventer turned hunter, had suffered a bad fall which ended his career. I got him very cheap as he would not pass vetting ( I knew owner though) . He is a happy hacker par excellence - we float along and he is worth his weight in gold. M

I don't think you have. I looked at this thread when it was first put up and my initial reaction to the horse was "meh" even before I started looking at the video and questioning things that weren't quite right. Then I moved on. I certainly wouldn't have had further interest in the horse, I only came back onto this thread to see if the OP had actually gone to view the horse.
 
I would not go and see this horse. I purchased a lovely ISH mare from Kent Dealers who was I thought too cheap. I questioned this and was spun the same line about the dealer being overstocked. She was a beautiful horse but has so many problems and I found out had been sent back to the dealer prior to me buying her. The whole thing was a nightmare and I wouldn't touch any dealers from Kent. I feel sorry for the horse but you have to consider the stress it will/might cause you.
 
I believe I know who is selling this horse and if it is her she makes a living from selling horses and is therefore a dealer. I wouldn't want to comment any further as I don't know the horse.

It sounds harsh to judge a whole county, but I have to say before we bought our one, I did look at a couple of horses in kent and hihosilver you are right!
 
Shot me down but why so much pressure for OP to see this horse.. If she's decided she doesn't want to view him based on information she's got that's her choice isn't it?

He's a little lean but hardly an Rspca case now, don't really know enough about his past for him to be classed as a 'poor horse'. Hundreds of horses are sold everyday privatly and through dealers I hope the horse finds a nice hole either way. If he really is a nice type then I'm sure someone will snap him up.

Good luck in your search OP I hope you find a good horse if your sure this one isn't worth the view.
 
I dont see why everyone is saying he is too cheap to be true, thats the fairly standard price for horses like him here in Ireland at the moment, in fact I could probably get them cheaper.

so wouldnt surprise me if he was sold very cheap to england.

Snooples, there's a reason soany dealers import horses from.Ireland. buy cheap there to sell on at profit in Mainland market. I'd imagine the equivalent of most types could be found significantly cheaper over there :)
 
thats a nice horse snooples but does it really compare, I havent glanced back at the other ad but wasnt he doing bigger more advanced stuff
 
The ad says ID x not pure ID. If the stallion was TB and the mare ID then the horse tends to look more like a TB. I have had a few who looked pure TB (and one now) and they were all registered chipped TB x ID.
