Apart from being a very handsome beast I think the thing I like most about mine is how brave he is. I wouldn't call him a fast learner but once he's got it, he's got it for life. He'll try his best, always, even with new stuff. I suppose that is why I can forgive the odd 'slip up', ie buck or (very rarely) mad panic and bolt.
What do you like about your horse? And what are you 'putting up with' sometimes?

I love my horse
smile.gif

I like her floppy lip
grin.gif

And the fact she seems to share my sense of humour

I put up with her being a temperamental cripple because of it

He will always try his best for me - he will always give 110% at a competition and he just loves life
laugh.gif

He is so genuine and honest, if i ask he will do it to the best of his ability.

Because he is like that, i can forgive his lack of manners

I love that i dont have to lead my horse because he just follows me
smile.gif
its sooo cute, and when i walk him in from the field he pushes me along with his nose
laugh.gif

His attitude! He is four in June and mostly quite intrepid, but on the odd occassion when he has a baby wobble about something he totally pools his trust in me and will always do what I ask. It means SO much pressure never to let him down but I love him for it!

I also love the wibbley wobbly bit on his nose that my OH *hates* me kissing
laugh.gif

I love missy for her "always aiming to please " attitude , her laid backness , Her sense of humour (yip she does have one
wink.gif
) ....Like merlin there I do forgive her for her lack of manners at times when she doesnt like to stand still, wont tolerate her mane being pulled, Trails me along in her headcollar .

Shes a head strong big b1tch at times
smirk.gif

But all is forgiven when she tries so hard for me .

Tommy T ...... I love him for teaching my boys , Love him for his gentleness and patience , Love his HUGE scopey jump LOL ! Love his little ears and his " I want a cuddle now but not right now "

Hol - she is a moody mare with a fab personality. She just has a big strop at everyone then puts on her pretty face to me (I did nothing mom!)

Mo - Talks to me all the time and answers if I speak to her
She also stays pretty clean for a big white woman and has lovely manners (bless)

I love her nature she is a dream...I'd trust my 5 year old lil girl around her more than her pony...one of the main reasons I've decided to get a foal off her (if it comes out half as good as mamma I'll be chuffed as mint balls)

My horse is quite aloof, but if he is ever hurt in the field he will always stand at the gate with ears pricked, intently concentrating on me, 'Mum it hurts, come save me!'. Tonight he was doing this, bless the boy he'd got it all wrong though! Very smug with himself for pulling off his final remaining shoe 'I don't know how it happened Mum, Echo did it, heres my hoof, would you like to pick it up and inspect it!', he doesn't realise he is going shoeless from now on, that's why he's been wearing an Old Mac on the other shoeless hoof out hacking!

Ellie, oour homebred two year old, I love and am exasperated by her total boldness and lack of fear, and that she will call to me, then canter up to me but never touch me. Hope she stays this nice as she grows up!

She's pretty, very level-headed for her age, responsive, comfortable, never hots up or pulls. She's got good conformation, (*touches wood*) so far has shown not a hint of unsoundness, is super clean to muck out, has never thrown me off. She has plenty of brains but isn't a complicated ride.

In short, almost everything except she's crap in traffic and she will rear when trapped in situations of anxiety or pressure, which is certainly worth putting up with and I'm sure will improve as she's not turned 5 yet.

He's unique
laugh.gif
and special
laugh.gif
and no matter what is wrong with him, it doesn't stop him eventing and he just loves his job and is so enthusiastic it's amazing
laugh.gif

I love that my boy is a TB yet he's the easiest horse to do.

smile.gif
He loves seeing the trailer & would load himself.
smile.gif
He's never silly when you take him places.
laugh.gif
He's very honest over a fence.
shocked.gif
He's fairly hardy for a TB.
smile.gif
He's a real trier & will do anything for you.
grin.gif
He's got lovely manners & will never leave his stable unless asked. I can leave the door wide open, wander off & he's still there.

I do hate cleaning him tho! He's a grey with a massive compulsion to cover himself in poo.

love the fact he takes every button/toggle of every jacket i own takes the buckles off my hunters wrecks every leadrope and rug i have love every inch of him would trust him with my life and did several times eventing oohh i am so lucky have 2 others but they dont have the character he has

If I wrote a post about every one of my horses we'd be here all night, so I will just talk about one of my horses, Jet.

I really like my horse Jet because he is the most trusting horse I've ever met. I have owned him for 4 years now. I bought him as a 3 year old and he was the most sensible 3 year old ever. At 3 I was working cattle with him, taking him out on a very busy road (just for the hell of it - I have no need to go on roads at all if I don't want to), swimming in the lake, paddling in the deep river, cutting new trails in the forest ... gosh there is absolutely nothing that this horse has baulked at, he has never ever shied or spooked or acted stupid in any situation I have ever taken him into.

Only once have I ever told him off in the 4 years I have owned him, and that was 2 years ago. He always does as I ask, he always tries his hardest for me, he is never in a grumpy mood, he is always happy to go anywhere and do anything I ask of him.

He is extremely fast, he can turn on a dime, he is so responsive, he is so obedient and he is simply such an ABSOLUTE pleasure to own. I have no intention of ever selling Jet. Him and I are in this for the long-haul.

Terry my QH: His lets get it done attitude, willing to get me out of trouble, level headed when things go bad, his James Dean the girls love me I am too cool act, how he lets me kiss his nose

Lucy my QH: her diva act, how she will drop her head to let me kiss the splash of white on her forehead, her sassy little trot when we go away from the barn, how dainty she is, how she loves to be trimmed, pampered and brushed

Smoke my Percheron: her flappy lower lip, the way she has to look at something, study it then go by it, her innocent look, that she doesn't realize how big she is, she still thinks she is a pocket pony. The easy going nature, gives me 110%, a true heart of gold.

Oh my goodness... right...

I love Genie because:
- I ask her to try something new and she goes 'ok!'
- She flaps her bottom lip sometimes as if she's talking
- She'll take your whole hand in her mouth and just suck on it, never using her teeth
- She poos all in one place, making her clean and easy to muck out!
- At shows she is impeccably behaved, even when it's her first outing in ages and I'm expecting her to buck
- She ADORES having attention
- She's let the bully of the field know that she won't tolerate it
- She has the most expressive eyes I've ever known
- You can tell EXACTLY what she's thinking
- Every time we go somewhere she gives me more and more confidence
- She's ANGELICALLY behaved for my Mum, who she could so easily push around, and the same with my nephews
- Whenever I ride her she seems to say 'right then! What are we doing today Mum?'

And most importantly

- She helped heal my heart after losing Mazzie. She hasn't replaced her, but has carved her own place and helped me move on.

I love my pony.

i just love everythign tbh!!

I love the fact that whatever I ask of Bodey he always gives 100%. I always have so much fun on him.

Badger well I just love his cuteness and ‘butter wouldn’t melt’ look.

I love the way she canters across the field when I call. I know it's cupboard love, but there's definately a bit of 'It's my mum - (wonder what she's got in her hand today?)'.
I love the way she gets absoloutley 'sent' when I find just the right place to scratch.
I love the way she can be desperate for her dinner - but will wait, however reluctantly, until I say 'ok'. We developed that behaviour because I don't want barging about in the stable.

Her ground manners are pretty darn good in fact.

i love her sweet nature the way she will only let me groom her and bring her in from the field and almost laughs at anyone else who tries. shouts me and kicks her door till she has my attention. stands with her head on my shoulder when she wants a good scratch.
so i put up with the odd barge and strop shes a 4 year old mare

.

I love my horse because:
- she is a gentle giant
- very affectionate
- turns heads when we hack out and always gets compliments, mainly because of her size!
- grooms my hair when scratched in that certain spot
- lets my 3 yr old niece climb all over her and has taken her and all her teddies for a ride on her back!
- tolerates me dressing her in PINK!!!
- amazes me how I can make a fist and place inside her big bubba gump lips and I am still no where near her teeth!!
- she protected me in a field full of nasty horses when she placed herself between me and killer horse and took full force of it's back feet.
- she has surprised me by being secretly in foal!

Ok - I will try not to gush!

River - I love him because he loves me, we have an understanding. Also because when I bought him 4 yrs ago he was the first horse I had sat on in 3 yrs and felt safe. He's my go anywhere, do anything lad.

For this I put up with - when he could be ridden temper tantrums a mare could've been proud off, and now the fact he may never be ridden again.

Lucas - I love his attitude. He wants to do it for you, and his greatest desire is to please you. The fact he tries so hard and is so SANE (esp for a 5yr just broken TB)

for this I put up with - having to do the bridle up around his ears, the fact he wants to climb in your pocket when leading him (which leads to trodden on toes) and his flatulence when excited - which leads to hysterics...

Oh and they are both SO HANDSOME in their own ways... I love them both and would be berefit without them.

Too many things to list!
-her big brown splodge on her left side
-her funny lips that always pester you
-her beautiful beautiful face with loving eyes, the fact that nothing fazes her
- how she never stays clean
-her willingness to do anything you ask for
-her gentleness that when something is wrong she lets you know in the most temperate manner
-how she always wants attention
-how we never seem to have any steps back – just forwards.
