What do you sing when you hack??

Question - why do so many of you ride or hack out if you're scared? Why put yourselves through it?

I love hacking my older horse, no fear at all... My youngster is more edgy, because he's young and inexperienced - I hack him alone even though I'm a bit nervous because I know when he gets more experienced and more settled, he will be as much fun to hack as my older boy - and then I won't be nervous at all :) It's also good for him to get out and see things, and there's a real sense of achievement when he's been good. The last half mile I was singing a random Five album track - I feel on top of the world (or something like that) with the biggest grin on my face :D

Well I don’t sing because I’m nervous, just because I can’t sit in silence for very long lol, I either talk my horses to death or sing to them.

Bit of Beyonce never goes a miss ‘to the left to the left’ when I want a lateral movement….basically so he’s keeping his backside on the correct side of the single track lane when something is coming! :D

My 'safety song' is 'Half a Pound of Tupenny Rice'. I sing it when schooling to keep a good rhythm or hacking to evade scary monsters and often to keep me breathing.

You have a beautiful voice Trish C, what talent!

Personally I sing rugby songs toally off key and at the top of my lungs
We have a lot of Bears and I'm a bit paranoid!

Hats off to you! That really is brave:eek:
Sorry,Teddy Bears' Picnic came to mind, it is a jolly tune but you wouldn't want them to take it as an invitation;)

When retraining the Mighty Hullabaloo I used to sing "what's that coming over the hill.. is it a monster? is it a monster?"
Invariably it was a monster
*cue sound of galloping hooves on road, worried neighing, singing getting louder, volume on full for word monster* :D

Bob the Builder!

But with Word changes i.e.

It's a Tractor, It's a Tractor (insert scary object of choice in this bit

Will it kill us

NO IT WON'T

No it won't should be accompanied by lots of leg:-)))

I'm so glad i'm not the only one who sings bob the builder - normally bob the builder will it kill us, bob the builder no it won't on repeat most of the way around. Since I was told it I can't not sing it!

Something traditional usually like "she moved thro' the fair," "roads of Kildare" or something by Celtic Legend, not because I am nervous, I just like singing! When I'm plaiting it is usually something a bit more rock like WASP, and when I'm jumping it's Viking Skull, but that is to calm me down!

This weekend there was a Spitfire flypast not far from the yard so I sang songs from Black and White war films round my hack in anticipation of seeing it. I included The Dambusters, 633 Squardron and The Battle of Britain, sadly we didn't get a great view of it.....

I always try and mutter songs quietly after I got caught by a walker singing (to my own tune) "Youurrr'eee soooo loveerrrlllllyyyy" while stroking my horses neck.

Time for a quick getaway!

Better than the time a cyclist caught me yelling "you f-ing s***" at our other horse.

Last night was
It's raining it pooring
It's raining men (fitting as I was riding a mare)
Sunshine after the rain
Finaly 1 little speckled frog sitting on wooden log ......

Can you tell what the weather was like?

i sing twinkle twinkle little star to my horse when she's nervous
and then i sing to myself whatever i've just heard on the radio or sometimes when nobody is around i play music from my iphone haha!

dog walkers caught me singing adele-someone like you a few weeks ago, which was a bit embarrassing. :o

When the saints go marching in and Do you know the way to San'hose - Have no Idea why and certainly don't know the words :o

erm, normally various Glee songs

and my hacking is very popular with dog walkers and cyclists, none of which ever seem to to make any noise to let me know they're there first

Various things! :D One of the horses I ride is a complete baby (ex racer) and a bit of a tit to be honest!

We tend to have something from my mates band (common rotation), various opera or musicals (phantom, miss saigon, wicked), glee, or anything else that I can remember more than 1 line of!

If i'm trying to get a steady trot or canter it tends to be sentences to a 2 or 3 beat rhythm! Usually something along the lines of 'that's a good boy wacky-woo (or jakey-jake) just keep up that steady pace!'

Or swearing!

Guns N Roses = "Take me down to the paradise city where the GRASS is green and the MARES are pretty - Oh won't you please take me home" used to sing this to my lil fella when out riding

And to my other boy - i sing Mr Bojangles

I wish i could sing nelly the elephant when jumping, but i really need something to wind me up, such as Motorhead = The Ace of Spades :D

Anything that's good for belting out (although I only do that if there's no one near by! ;) ) Elvis is probably my favourite, and I've also found that singing along to some of his songs help improve the rhythm whilst schooling! :D

I have to confess though... I'm a nightmare in the run up to Christmas, as I (probably very badly!) sing every single Christmas carol and song I know... full volume... whether there are people around or not...

Only when going over motorway bridges (which neither me or the horse likes very much) - London bridge is falling down.

Not a good song to sing in the circumstances!

LOL - i don't like motorway bridges either, but im too busy trotting over them as quickly as possible to be able to sing as well :D

I used to sing lots of songs on my 2 old mares- usually completely made up (I still that now, even at home ) and either complimentory or not depending on their behaviour.

I don't sing when riding Amber at the moment, but do when poopicking, filling waters etc- usually whats playing on my Ipod or a song stuck in my head.

On a mare called Ruby... can you guess.... 'Ruby' by the Kaiser Chiefs, proper belter song.

Wandering through a forest, cue RUBY RUBY RUBY RUBY AHHHHH AHHH AHHH, accompanied by some air guitaring, bit of drumming... team of (quite hot) mountain bikers decided at that exact moment to come past....
