I appreciate people dont always hear what they want to hear, Blueberry is just being honest too, she would not have posted in the first place if she was scared of opinions.

I can be blunt but it doesnt make me right all the time (unless I'm in discussion with my hubsband)

No, I can understand you are wrong pretty often. But I AM always right, constrained only by my extreme modesty.
That's the difference between us.

If my post appeared contradictive then so, what is the big problem?
I was 'thinking out loud' so to speak, not analysing my every word just in case the forum 'critique' found an error and then blows it out of proportion.

Of course handling was considered as a factor contributing to the problem but only because our methods that are normally very effective did not work.
I am more critical of myself than anyone, and yes i can accept criticism but not when it isnt constructive. My point was that even after approriate handling, he was still troublesome. You really have to know this youngster to know where i was coming from.
Not all things go perfectly, especially with young horses.
Which is why the problem has been addressed and things are getting vastly better.
I realised at the time of posting that i was open to criticism.

But shilasdair you did not offer anything of use
crazy.gif

Unfortunately, the entertainment factor for you, far outwayed the offer of any insight into your experience with your babies.

As you know, we have met before, i feel i know you well

Anyway, a pain as he may be, i am very glad he is here. We struggled with him at birth and he needed a blood transfusion very soon after and had several problems but i always believe that in the long run he is going to have been worth all the effort.
smile.gif

Edited to add....shilasdair you advised me an a different post to contact a horse rescue charity to see if they can take hin off my hands and match him with someone more suitable.
You know that i am a member of a rescue charity so it is clear that you are not responding in any thoughtful manner that is of any purpose.

<font color="blue"> I didn't know that you were a member of a horse charity...I discuss many things with many people on here...and don't remember all that many personal details, as I tend to view discussions in the abstract, and don't get involved at a personal level. I am particularly bad at first names...so if I have been forgetful, ignore me. I do hope you support a worthwhile charity like the ILPH...but can't remember anything about it...
Anyway, there's no need to be paranoid about me...I haven't any negative intentions towards you, or anyone else on here. I just say things as I see them - whether you like it or not, at least I'm honest and upfront.

I disagree with you, Shilasdair's posts are always informative and intelligent. When I read your intial post I thought exactly the same, don't use that combination again.... I don't often ask for advice but when I do there is only a few people I will listen to on this forum (cos some give not so good advice
tongue.gif
) Shilisdair is one of those people I will listen to .. cos her advice makes sense

I am sorry Blueberry but i agree woth Shilasdair on this one.

You said in one of your posts that you think your youngster may have been pre disposed to this kind of behaviour - well if you had a reason to think that then Shilasdair was correct in suggesting that you think carefully before creating the match again - that is not offensive - that is real life and real breeding sense.

Shilasdairs posts are normally meant in good humour and are full of the common sense approach to horse ownership.

Good to hear that you have created some boundaries that the horse respects now though!

You are entitled to think what you like, what matters is how i have taken the remark not you.
I am sure shilasdair will appreciate the support from you.

Some advice was helful that i was given off other members and hers wasnt, as simple as.
Never heard the saying 'if you dont have anything good to say, then say nothing'?

Its very easy to be sarcastic when you are not face to face but i guess this is the beauty of a forum.

I hate to say but S comes across as a JM07 wanabee (no disrespect intended JM07)

You're being contradictory again...first you want to 'muster up irritation' (for which itching powder would have been excellent), but now you want to STOP minor irritation.

S you are waffling on now??

No- no blue pipe used here-i have seen a pony go through a breeze block brick wall, from fear of that bendy, non harmful pipe.

Oh well you said didn't take Shilisdair's advice and took the others who all said to use blue pipe
tongue.gif

I dont think you have read the initial first post about this horse, the advice then was very useful.

i dont think S offered any advice to talk of.

So whats your gripe, ZIGZAG?

I have no gripe ...
crazy.gif
I just don't agree with you which is what you don't like.. if I had a youngster that was biting etc and I was the only one handling it, I would blame myself or if he was like it born I would blame the breeding ...

I read the intial post just didn't reply to it...

First post was by Arwen answer = Blue pipe, other answers were blue pipe.. your answer

know you are right, i think the sight of me going in with blue pipe would horrify some of the liveries but i do agree, it is better than a whip without a doubt.

I think its time for him to go back out, i was hoping to get the grass grown through a little more but i can always put haylage in.

i am just upset that he is so nasty with it-but i maybe expect too much from him.

So..... you are not really saying anything new?

Im not bothered by you at all, you can have your opinion, you probably are inexperienced in youngsters so i doubt are in a position to judge me.

I posted honestly about my horse, at least i dont bury my head in the sand and wait until bigger problems arose.

I have found many forum members to be knowledgeable and you cant buy some of the experiences people had had and can offer an insight into a situation. ...then some like yourself and S are in it for the argument.
WHATS THE POINT??
crazy.gif

but the difference is i listened to the advice and then made my own informed decision based on my understading and good sense.

And guess what....i didnt use it and he is improving no end....so its all good!

Actually no I am not inexperienced with youngsters .... having being involved with breeding, foals, showing youngsters and breaking in from little Sec B's to TB's and none of them were nasty, only one colt I had trouble with and because he misbehaved with me and only me, some one else took him to disipline him so he learnt the ground rules then I was able to handle him again, I made a mistake with him and got it corrected straight away, it wasn't his temperment it was the way I handled him and he was a sharp little bugger who took advantage
