What do you think of this horse?

He's lovely.

He'salso IMMENSELY cheap. My jaw dropped when I saw the price (and I've been horse shopping a lot up until October, so not really out of touch or anything).

If all that was true, I'd say he should be around £9k if not more, for a young lad with a lot of potential and one that you can hack perfectly, handle perfectly etc. I'm sure as it's an ad it's not ALL 100% true, so I guess you'd go along and see which bits of it are more true than others.

horse looks nice, the advert annoyes me, but thats just me. 'bombproof' is my pet hate of all words!! i dont think she is cheap, i paid half that for my well bred gelding as a 5year old.

I do like the horse though, she looks nice and uphill in that one picture. Jump picture is ok, but with water tray under, so you dont get an idea of how she jumps a 'normal' fence. Would she be as scopey over another type of fence?

sorry just realised 'she' is a 'he!'

I've got some pics of him jumping some other fences, looks fairly green on all of them but nothing that would suggest he's not got much jump. Hard to tell from little jump pictures I think though.

The add doesn't

Horse looks lovely,

What caught my eye more, was googling the number, it appears this person sells a lot of horses, from yorkshire, midlands, derbyshire and more for all around the same price. (Not that it is neccessarily a bad thing, but would make me wary)

I wouldnt say he was that cheap, even with the current market. He looks good, well worth a see and the price is decent enough and should attract the right buyers. Good luck, keep us posted :)

To be honest I think he's about the right price for what he is. Or about the right price for what I'd pay for what he is anyway!
I think he looks nice and would be a belter once you've brought him on further.
I'd go and see him :)

In comparison to similar things advertised he definitely seems to be at the lower end of the price range. I'm glad most people don't think he seems too cheap though.

I think he looks a nice lad, despite the bad pictures. I would go and see him but keep eyes wide open if a dealer posing as private. Price-wise, I'm not really sure. I've seen horses with more experience/schooling under their belts advertised for less but the market is pretty bad. I wasn't surprised at the price but would imagine there's a little bit of wiggle room.

Just a little something I noticed in the advert... He's good to clip, catch and shoe... But what about box? Worth bearing in mind if you do look at him! Just caught my eye as it's kind of standard advert wording and 'box' stood out as missing.

I have had a horse by Freddies Star and also knew of 2 others, my particular horse was very difficult to ride in the school and infact i had a bad accident on him, despite sending him away to a good old fashioned nagsman for 6 weeks the problem was not resolved, I put it down in the end to being badly broken in ireland and had to sell him very cheaply to a lady who only wanted to hack, which he was fine with. I heard that they can be seriously tricky but in the right hands very good, not to say that any of this applies to this horse, he looks very like the one I had, good looking and certainly catches the eye.

Definately beware a dealer selling as private.

Dealer and I would bet a pound the horse has been sold and come back. Quite a description for such a young horse and lets face it, how many 5 year olds with quality would realistically be that perfect for under 4k. View with eyes wide open and a good sense of smell, cos I smells a rotten rat !

Just my type!!! I'd have im!! I wouldn't worry about price either, everyone's having trouble selling at the moment.

I looked at the ad and thought he looked lovely and the price not that surprising given he is 5 and the market is difficult. BUT what people have said about dealer selling as private would really put me off so I wouldnt personally take it any further. But then I might be missing out on a nice horse for a good price! Not that I personally could cope with a 5 YO ISH, you have to know what you are doing. As I am sure you do :)

Very nice - why wouldn't you buy him?!

I don't think he is ridiculously cheap - he's not especially well bred and hasn't done anything affiliated and is a bit novicey. While the latter two things are probably just what you want in a 5 year old, I don't see why he would be up for more than £4000 or £5000 unless very special and show quality as well. I think he's realistically priced.

I've seen horses a year or two older which have jumped up to Newcomers for maybe £7000, so that's a lot work and extra keep to make a few thousand more. Also requires a lot of expertise.

I bought a 4 yo ISH a couple of years ago. He has never put a foot wrong. Not saying they're all like that but he has to be one of the easiest horses ever.

This tbh, I don't think he's cheap for a horse that's basically done nothing, but then it depends on your budget doesn't it :)

Can you get a pic of him stood up? My pet hate is when the tilt the camera like that to make the horse look like its up hill, when its really just the camera! Tip the pic until the fence line is horizontal, looks totally different. I am not keen on his legs, but that's just me. As for the price, not cheap by any means!

Thanks guys. Will take a look at that camera angle! I'm not too fussed if he's uphill or not TBH though.

I did I bit of stalking and turns out the girls is mutual friends with a couple of (nice, reliable) people I know on FB. One has said she's a really nice girl and genuine. Brings a couple over to bring on and sell from Ireland each year which explains the dealer / private thing.

Haven't heard from the girl all day so maybe she doesn't want me! :(

I agree with all of those who say you should be wary on this one, just copy the number and google it, loads of ads from all over so may be a nice horse but I would walk away as always wary when dealers don't admit that is what they are doing , why not and I would always ask myself what else are they not being honest about.

Nice looking boy.

As has already been suggested, the lack of 'box' in an otherwise comprehensively worded ad worries me, especially if he's so great in all other ways by the sound of it. There's an awful lot of description justifying the price tag.... Maybe a bit over-egged and nervously trying to gloss over something? To me the price seems a little optimistic if anything.

(God I'm turning into such as sceptic these days!)
