Am looking to buy my next pony and have seen this Welsh sec D which ticks all the boxes and we're making a 7 hour round trip to see him on Monday, it's mainly showing and a bit of dressage I'll be doing with him. Anyway last night had a look at his pedigree and this same stallion has appeared on both the sires parents. http://www.sporthorse-data.com/d?i=11046057&z=omM50S
Doing some research the stallion in question Tyhen comet was extremely well thought of and won quite a few championships in his time, so could explain why they used him twice. My question is would this put you off buying him, ive only had one experience with a horse with line breeding before and he was not the best put together let's say! But equally have heard it's very common in welshie breeding and this pony itself has already done fairly well in the show ring at only 4 years old and like I said ticks all the boxes otherwise. Just wary of making another big mistake like the last one! Thanks in advance

I have a Morgan, if I follow her pedigree right back to 1800's the same stallion (the original and only Morgan) is used time and time again! I wouldn't worry too much with the pedigree you have shown.

Further back is sort of okay. If it was both parents sire for example then no.

I've got a foal born this year by the father of the dam (Welsh D ). Total accident, and I was prepared for the worst, but she is the most correct looking and moving filly. I wouldn't do it by choice though.

Thats the thing though, they DO create perfect little ones, but somewhere down the line it fails. Thats why minis and fresians have so many dwarfs
