What dog breed?

My old agility instructor promotes agility with Great Danes, she has specially built kit and does "Giant breed" days

:eek::D

I can't recommend Springers highly enough: just fabulous dogs. Mine are gonna be big boys-they're already taller than the other two were at the same age. Join the Spangle massive!

So sorry to hear about your old dog.:(

He was 3 in June ED. I rehomed him from a family in Wales when he was 15 months old, as they couldn't keep him any more. Most definately their loss! :)

:D He looks lovely. I just wondered because we had a litter of GWPs only only 3 of them where GWPs the other 8 were GWP x HWV - we didn't know until they were born that the Viz had a go too!!! But they're about 8 or 9 now :p

I said about getting a longhaired pointer, they sent me pics today of the parents... bare in mind the puppies are kc registered etc etc these are the parents...

is it me or is white one very springer spaniel looking?!

Yes, they are kc accredited breeders! I just don't think the White one is even a german longhair pointer! But then I've never seen one....

Phew, I am glad somebody else said something :o
The female does not look breed typical, looking at Google images and the male does look on the old side (although I have seen dogs starting to grey out at six or seven)
ETA I am aware lots of breeds exhibit strong sex characteristics, IE big doggy males, fine feminine bitches, but that is a big difference!

(Loads of dogs sit froggy though, old and young :p)

Please be careful of people trying to sell you a pup, quite literally - I met a bloke who'd paid thousands for a 'Belgian Shepherd' - it was a longhaired GSD, not any of the four BS varieties, I know what they look like, as I live and breathe, ten a penny, and was it someone on here met someone who paid £2k for an 'Australian Service Dog' - IE a labradoodle....I could sell you my female for a huge wodge of cash, because I can talk the talk, I could give you waffle about blood lines, qualifications, she has her pink pedigree from Germany and her prelim hip and elbow x-rays look great...but lovely as she is, she's not worth that by a long shot.

Pretty they may be, long haired pointers maybe not! The puppies are beautiful though!! But no if i was too get one it would be an actual lh pointer!!

Yes, i was maybe expecting the female to be abit smaller but not that small!

People an be so gullible sometimes though and pay so much money!

DO NOT buy one of those puppies. Neither of those dogs are long haired pointers!!

I would like to suggest an easier to pbtain alternative - the Large Munsterlander

The LM and GLP were originally the same breed then at the start of last century they split the breed into two colours, the brown retaining the GLP name and the black and whites becoming LM's. Some outcrossing to english pointers helped strengthen the black colouration but they are pretty much identical accept colour.

I have two, one for agility and one for showing (we got a 1st and a 2nd at Crufts this year).

Here is my show boy- he is 2 years old - Loki (Paddockridge Ortega)

Where in the uk are you as there is a Large Munsterlander club show on this weekend (sunday), perfect place to meet breeders etc. It is in Northants.

Not GLP!

If you're after a GLP go onto the Kennel Club website, look up the breed and get in touch with the club secretary they'll point you in the right direction for a proper GLP puppy :p

i meant to add - you might find it difficult to get a GLp unless you intend to work it. As the breed is still in its infancy in this country alot of the breeders are keen to maintain their working background and i have heard it is hard to obtain a decent puppy unless you are to work it.

Also, something you might find interesting, Large Munsterlanders occasionally have brown puppies in their litters (due to throwback to when they were GLPs). They cannot be KC reg as they are the 'wrong' colour so breeders often sell them for half the price but you can still reg them on the activities register for agility etc.
I have met a few brown LMs and they are identical to GLPs, you wouldnt be able to tell just by looking at them. Worth enquiring as breeders like it when people are willing to take the browns. If i didnt want to show i would have a brown as they are GORGEOUS!!

Your munsterlander is amazing! I will definatly look into it, im near cambridge but am away this weekend :( if you hear of any litters let me know!

No see those glh pointers are beautiful; what i wanted, not what was sent to me!! i got this breeder of the kennel club accredited breeder scheme, the only glh pointer breeder on there....! evidently not!

Thank you all of you just wanted to make sure i wasnt being fussy!! :p

( if you hear of any litters let me know!

I will ask the Breed club secretary on Sunday if there are any litters registered at the moment.
I will see what she says and let you know.

Both parents are BVA/KC hipscored, eyetested, and elbow scored
also they are HUU CLEAR

The bitch is beautiful, such a sweet little girl. Not sure who the sire is though but if you enquire let me know and i will spill all the beans on him!

Thank you very much pmp :)

Especially ask about brown ones, i like the sound of them! It will be a working dog rather then a show dog so colour doesnt matter too much.

I shall get in touch, long time to wait for puppies though!! Dont know if i could wait for such a cute puppy!

Thank you for all the information though they are absolutly stunning especially your beautiful boy :D
