I have to confess that I find the new trend for making accounts for child riders really disconcerting, especially when it involves the parent (in most cases I think) posting photos or videos of them in dangerous situations. There is one going around at the moment of a little girl on a rearing palomino pony and it’s getting hundreds of comments about the child being a great rider. The girl looks like she is crying to start, the pony is rearing and getting pulled in the mouth (that is no criticism of the little girl, she sticks it out and I’m sure I could do no better!) and everyone seems to think it’s wonderful?! I find it totally bizarre!

There’s a dealer who advertises on FB who has amazing horses in. Unfortunately they also have a work rider who can‘t keep their hands quiet and so makes every horse in their videos look bridle lame. It’s infuriating, I want to post ‘keep your hands still’ every time I see them. Same rider also nags constantly with the leg so makes every horse look backwards. Such a shame.

For me - ordinary people starting gofundme Pages to pay for their horses/dogs etc. Vet bills.

Mary King's daughter, with contacts even other pro riders can't dream of, doing a go fund me for a £40k novice horse offering rewards that she could not possibly deliver.

That one drove me absolutely mad!

ETA the horse did two runs at Intermediate this May and now looks as if it has been sold to a new rider who is competing at BE100. So much for meeting it in the stables at Badminton, and I bet the small donors didn't see a penny of their money back when she made a fat profit selling it. Apologies in advance of she has given away the ride on an Intermediate horse for free.

I loathe the 'wanted broodmare to be covered by my stallion ' adverts. where they dont specify breeding / disclipine etc So are just after a walking uterus to be covered by their ( probably unregistered poor standard) stallion. Or shall we say gelding with balls. These are probably the 'breeders' who sell their foals to the people who think they can keep them on livery yards. I do wish there was a way to fully regulate breeding.

Or the wanted adverts from the same people who post month in month out with an unrealistic budget/criteria. I know one girl who has been looking for possibly 3years.

The go fund me /begging ones.. what the actual heck is going through their minds to do this, a good kick up the backside is needed.

I've seen that one on Instagram and I agree it is really uncomfortable watching.

This was the horse that fell on XC onto her partner smashing his face up.

It seems that anyone who's been to one competition makes a Facebook page and
Calls it "Joe Bloggs Eventing " or "Jane Doe Dressage ".
Then they start tagging every horsey product ever made in posts, doing reviews as if they were gifted items and trying to get sponsored by big brands, while not having a clue on how to ride one side of the horse..

Or the ones that don't bother wearing a helmet... I can't stand it

The ones that start - 'before I call the vet' or 'should I call the vet'

If you need to ask??
These people have cottoned on so now they say "I have the vet coming but while I wait thought I'd ask ....."
No you haven't got the vet coming you bloody tight arse horse neglecter, you still think that people with 2 GCSEs and 3 braincells can diagnose your horse on Facebook so you don't have to pay for a vet.

Yes that really annoys me.

You would hope so but I know a few riding schools near me who sell them off in there twenties or if they start getting issue to a novice family for a first horse
I bought a 20 year old as my first horse. Not from a riding school, but still an old boy.
He was perfect for me as he'd been there & done it all. Not without his issues but I learned a lot from dealing with those. I was very lucky to get him IMO, and he was fit & healthy for the first 5 years I had him. His last year was rather filled with vet visits, and he is now buried in my field. I still have a chat with him when I pass his grave.
I absolutely adored that horse, and he looked after me as much as I did him.
I know of at least one riding school near me who retire their ponies away from the school if that's what suits the pony. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing but it does depend on what the pony likes, and what sort of home it is.

Any parent who puts their child on social media under a certain age (unable to fully consent) or blatantly without their consent. I’ve seen posts where the parent has posted a picture of a child trying to look away from the camera and the parent thinking that it’s funny to post it anyway. In one post the mother even captioned the photo that the child had explicitly asked to not have her picture on social media but ‘this is too good not to share’... Poor kids.

There is another one going around "Is your horse looking for a new home if so let me know. I can come and look today, I have cash, so long as its not lame". From oh yes a well known dodge pot.
