Toby (i think) the Dun from the riders series by Samantha Alexander

Joey from War Horse esp if he looked like the horse who played him in the film.

Did you know there were 14 different horses that played Joey? interesting fact right there :D

I wanted Black Beauty - or Goliath, the Fresian from Ladyhawke - I watched that so many times

Shantih was always too irritating for my liking :p

I would probably have rapide (from the Jill books) the black stallion or Thunderhead :)

Sidekick was Tonto, his horse was Scout.

When I was younger I wanted Shadowfax. One day I'll have one! :)

Spirit/Swiftwind

I still have my Swiftwind toy somewhere. ;)

Does anyone know why the toy version was pink, as he was white/grey with a chestnut mane and tail in the series?

The artist in charge of the horse animation was very talented.

I wanted them all, Black Beauty, Thowra, Champion, all the Follyfoot horses, you name it I'd have had them. I also loved a horse in an old cowboy programme about Buffalo Bill - one of his sidekicks had a gorgeous blanket spot horse and I always wanted one!

I would still love a horse like black beauty! Loved the shantih stories and black stallion! I also loved this funny story in 'bunty' (I guess passed down to me) that had a comic book strip about a girl and her bionic horse, it had telescopic legs which got them out of many a scrape!

i worshipped a huge white moon stallion called "Tabu", and it was a series based near the chalk horse (erm, where is that ??). That horse was stunning, think it was a Lipizzana - I cried over him many times

Apparently they are reissuing the Jinny books and I know the girl whose Arab mare, Shantih is going to be on the covers of the books!
The horse that played the part of Black Beauty in the 70's TV series was very clever. He would be galloping, fully tacked up, through the countryside, en route to rescuing his mistress (again, yawn! :D) and would change himself from a Pelham to a snaffle! Without stopping :D
The continuity in that prog was atrocious, but endlessly amusing. And they never seemed to untack the poor animal! Just tied him to a tree or ushered him into a barn. Presumably he did the business himself :D
I loved Flicka, Jill's ponies (Black Boy more than Rapide) Christina, the rich kid with a butler and groom had lovely Symphony, Solo and Serenade.
And the books about Bobby (Roberta)and her mare Shelta.
