i have a horse as most of you know, (not been on here in months!) and now its getting into winter those early mornings are back, now i am in full time work i am really struggling to get up in the morning, i set my alarm for 6am and just cant get up and dont end up going down the yard till gone half seven which doesnt given me enough time to exercise him. which isnt fair on him, i was ok last year, its since i have finished college and work full time, i prety much always go to bed before 10 oclock. sometimes nine oclock! what makes you get up.

The fact that if I don't get up at six, muck out and turf him out, there is no way I'd get to work on time - I don't get to ride during the week, unless I finish work early.

This morning I got up at 5.55, got dressed, drove to stables did horse, left at 6.40, drove to north wales (from Leeds) worked on site til 3.30 (when its getting dark) drove back, went straight to stables at 5.30pm and got home at 6pm.

Same day tomorrow, feel like I'm in groundhog day

Needing to be in work on time, and the fact that my horse is waiting for me is enough to get me out of bed.

Same, plus the thought of my 20,000 word MSc thesis that is due in on monday and won't write itself....!

Put your alarm clock at the other end of the room!

Failing that, having an OH that gets up at 4.30am, turns all the lights on, and lets 4 dogs in the room usually gets me up!

I work a full time job and 2 part time jobs but like above, just knowing they need checked and that I have my morning routine down to a fine art (each minute accounted for..) usually works.

Its hard but once your in a routine you will be ok.

what usually happens with me is my alarm goes off, i switch it off, go back to sleep, and dont wake up till about 7 ish and still struggle to get up, i go down the yard and turn him out and do what mucking out i can and leave the rest till later, travel 10 miles to work to be there for 9 oclock, finish work at 5 and get to the yard at 20 to 6. by which time its dark and i use the generator to finish my stable and get him in, he gets fed for me in the morning so he isnt going hungry, but i compete dressage and have to ride him but really struggling to get my arse out of bed, my dog used to get me up at the crack of dawn but now she is as bad as me,

I nearly agreed with you as I would put the alarm clock other end of the room.

But I have to say I think you need to get another OH or switch all lights on when he is asleep and having a lyin

A cat screeching it's claws down the living room door at 6.30am. Also, I know that I only have to throw biscuits in the cat's bowls, put a coat over my PJs, go downstairs and grab the ready made up feeds, stagger across the yard and put feed buckets and hay into stables, check over horses and stagger back to bed for another two and a half hours

Knowing my boy (and his chums) are waiting for their breakfasts! And if I'm not at the yard by 6.30 at the latest I won't have time to do everything and get back to look halfway presentable for work.

Perhaps I'm just lucky that I've never needed much sleep, and am fairly well disciplined, but I always set the alarm for 5.30 (so I have a lie-in!!!

.). Don't often have a problem.

That if i dont get up at 5 and ride 2 horses before i leave for work at 7.30 that i am spending half my life at the stables and half my wages and not getting anything for this !

I find it easier to get up at 5 than at 6 - as when the alarm goes off at 5 i am really aware that the poor OH will get disturbed if i dont get straight up. By 6am for some strange reason i dont seam to care LOL

Guilt! My lad has lived out for four years, but is having to come in at night for a while - he isn't used to it, and is delighted to get out in the mornings, so I'm always waking up before the alarm. Looking forward to him being out 24/7 again though, then all we have to do in the mornings is check the horses, walk the dogs and feed the poultry and sheep!

If I need to do the horses, gets me straight out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off. If I dont need to do the horses (as OH usually checks them for me now on his way to work - they are living out atm) then I struggle big time....this morning I stayed in bed and missed my train and was late for work

I leave a post it on my alarm clock reminding me what I need to achieve that morning
tongue.gif
for example this morning I woke up with a post it "get out of bed lazy bitch, you have a law exam you need to revise for more today"

i've got one of those. bloody annoying and VERY loud, but taught me to clean my room as you have to have the flying bit to turn it off and I lost it in the mess that is my room. was whacking the clock shouting "SHUT UP!!!! STOP! JUST STOPP ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH". woke me up though!!!!

3 alarm clocks and a phone reminder.
shocked.gif
Phone goes off at 5, alarm clock number 1 at 5.15, number 2 at 5.25, and emergency extra-loud-wake-the-neighbours-clock at 5.45, just in case I hit snooze too often!!

Should be going to bed earlier really!

Knowing that I not only have to feed & turn out my horse in the morning, but everyone elses as well (we do alternate mornings) and also knowing that I'll get the bosses evil eye if I turn up to work late...again!!

I usually get up at 6.00 on the 'horse days'. The lie ins in between def help though!!

My dog gets me up, his cold nose nudging my face persistently gives me no choice.

I used to shut him in hallway, but I slept in, so he got back in my bedroom - playing during the night is sooooooo annoying tho lol x
