What happened to the Brightwells thread ?

It's been removed. The first thread was removed because apparently tfc was requested to remove it and not sure why the other one was taken down. I was hoping that putting it on h&H would help it reach a wider horsey audience, gain more support and highlight the terrible conditions these ponies were living in. I guess someone on h&h has other ideas...

That is such a shame. Why does that one particular individual always manage to get threads pulled because she is on a personal vindictive crusade. That thread was important, the issues need to be brought out, being pulled just allows the disgraceful business to continue underground. Come on H&H start being a mouthpiece for british equines.

Thank you.

Im really cross that once again *** has managed to scupper something that needed to be brought to the attention of the wider public. I can only assume that her own agenda rates higher than that of animal welfare.

I only read the start of the hill pony conversation as I was offline after that- so I didn't see how it got. But after having my wrist slapped for just being the one who started the thread I'm now trying to be whiter than white so that I don't end up in the naughty corner again  as long as this thread remains I'll be happy- this is something which needs to be seen and heard. Thanks to murphysminder who brought back this thread and to everyone else who's supporting this :)

I didn't see the previous thread but would suspect Brightwells themselves got it pulled as they've issued a statement threatening legal action against bad press

Really, what recently?

Maybe they should present equines fit for sale then and not have to worry about it.

This does need to be kept in the public domain!

I would paste a link to their statement which was issued yesterday but I'm not sure if that's allowed. Although they are of course a consideration in this plight the immediate concern is that of the welfare of the ponies who are still at the stud and who continue to be bred there.

Exactly. Ridiculous woman.

Perhaps Brightwells would like to comment directly on this forum??

I won't quote the statement, there's a link to it on the page on FB. TBH, and it's only my opinion, i'd rather those ponies be sold by Brightwells than stay where they were, at least they have a chance of a better life (or swift death).

Hopefully, the publicity will close the stud and be a warning to others in the same business

If you google Brightwells statement it comes up. They actually name the person responsible for the ponies in such poor condition.

All people should present equines fit for sale but it is not the auctioneers' fault if they don't.
I think their attitude of selling the poor ponies is it's better for them than not to be returned to the vendor, at least that way they have a chance. I don't for a moment think it was only to do with getting their commission

Do I take it that DHP pushed the button because their 'traditions' were being questioned as I missed the last few pages? Shame on them.

Even if this board has pulled the thread(s) its stil ongoing on HG.
WPCS are holding an emergency welfare meeting tomorrow and its not without time. Apparantly also taken from HG Horse and Hound are arranging to publish the article next issue. Anyone with photographic evidence about this stud is urged to send photographs and details to the WPCS before tomorrows meeting.
There is I believe photographic evidence from the 1970 's showing that this person has been keeping his stock like this since then. That is how long the WPCS has been shielding and supporting this person!! It was brought to their attention then and as usual they stuck their heads in the sand and hoped it would die a death.

Could someone give me a brief summary of how the thread went please, I'm curious why it was requested to be taken down? pm if preferred.

I didn't read all of it - just skimmed.

The only contentious thing in the thread was the naming of a poster on the forum by another poster. Both posters now appear to be banned (which is a shame, because one is a huge loss - the other not).

That will be why it was pulled.

It went along the lines of:

*everyone* Hill farmers are bad...

*Rosie* Hill farmers are good but just so no one can argue otherwise Im going to use someones real name (again) so that this is taken down...

*tfc* Bad Hho, Im taking this thread down...

From what I have heard there is legal action about to take place regarding the welfare issues involving the ponies.
Any naming of the people/studs involved could lead to the breeder/s being 'let off on technicalities'.
You have to be really careful when dealing with such matters.
I'm sure that with all the attention this has received on FB that something will be done now...about time too.

I had been following this thread and couldnt believe it was taken off.

Is there anywhere I can sign a petition against these people, I do not have a fb account but will happily email Brightwells expressing my displeasure?

Thanks for your support- I, as well as many others, have written to the wpcs. Some have written to the auctioneers as well but considering a meeting is taking place tomorrow, the wpcs seem to be taking some action so people are hoping that if we bombard them with enough written concerns and displeasure they will actually do something about it this time!
