mine is the fact that I cant get to the horses and I was supposed to hear about a job yesterday or today and have been counting down the last two weeks to hear about it...now wont know until next fri, but at least they bothered to email me to tell me that :).
oh and my car is stuck in the car park!

Not being able to ride! My TB is going to be a nightmare when I get back on - it is over a week now since he was ridden, and last time he was left this long, after going on hols, he was a pain in the butt!!

Erm, probably the hard ground. I was moaning before the cold snap that 'it's hard to walk in ankle deep mud' but it's even harder to walk on frozen solid rutted mud!!

What I would give for squidgy mud now!

Drivers driving far too close and people panic buying food and fuel for there cars, I can understand the elderly, but young ones, you have legs use them...............

I agree with rowreach, why do the media have to hype it up so much, on the plus side we are having a proper winter which will kill of all the Midges and flys that have been plaguing us since May and bringing all there nasty blue tounge diseases and other stuff with them. I know this doesn't affect the horses so much, but we have about 200 or so lovelly cows who I wouldn't want to catch that horrible disease. Always look on the bright side of life as Monty Python said!!

Have definatley gone snow mad!!

That my horse hasn't been able to be turned out, I hate him being in and would willingly put him out for at least a few hours a day but no one else at the yard will turn out.

My poor little foal injuring herself and now having to be on box rest for 2 weeks! :( Might be good for the swelling and physitis but aint so good for her new bone and upright feet! :(

I quite like it...work is shut so had a lie in and then walked through the snow to the horses. They are living out and are absolutely fine with hay and digging for grass. Its like pulling a sickie without getting in trouble!

That the winter weather (winter happens every year - it shouldn't be a suprise!) dominates morning BBC news. There has got to be something else going on in the world rather than cold and wintery weather here!!
On a horsey front, am done with not riding and missing my lessons. The school is rock solid and not so smooth, the ground is rock (also rutted) and the road is an ice rink. Bored!! I am actually looking forward to this weekend when rain is forecast as I'm hopeing things will defrost enough to be safe to ride again!

- Worrying I'll run out of hay because I'm putting so much in the field.
- Wondering how I'm going to pay back the hours at work because I'm snowed in.
- Being scared of driving in blizzards.

Apart from that I quite like the snow really! Makes everything look clean and beautiful.

The only thing is the cold and pushing big full wheelbarrows through the snow!
I can still turn out for an hour or so, get to the arena's to exercise and ride and I can't say my horse cares whether she is in or out. And we have a Land Rover Defender which has just been amazing in this weather. Not skidded or lost grip once :)
I am very lucky.

Frozen pipes, we had another one burst this morning, the pipes are lagged and inside the stable block, we turn off the supply and drain the pipe .... or so we thought ..... ggrrrrrrr

I'm back to lugging more buckets from my kitchen over the track and into the stable block :(

The traffic!!!!! All the main roads are clear (we have not really had any snow, just frost) and it took me an hr and half to drive 12 miles to work on Tuesday!!

The turnout paddock being frozen so a nutty horse that I can only walk inhand in the indoor to stretch her legs

Not being able to hack would have been annoying, but madam is footsore so off work anyway!

We have no water everything is frozen solid ( was -10 last night and -6 at 11am) So having to use a bucket and rope dangle it over a bridge to get buckets of water (wouldn't be too bad if I didnt have a bad back and hands and not meant to lift grr) normally use my h2go in wheelbarrow but its frozen too:(

This is going to sound bitchy but what really annoys me is the fact that those of us who have to get to work have to get up extra early, battle to horses and cope with the fact water tap is frozen etc, leave extra early to get to work, all day at work then repeat! My horses are currently being done at 4.30am and 9pm while the bored housewife types refuse to go out in snow, dumping the care of their horses on mugs like me and spend all day posting on fb how bored they are! Sorry rant over, on the plus side my school hasn't been harrowed this much in ages and remains rideable.
