I am competing for the first time in a couple of years on Sunday - eeek! I am just writing a list of stuff to take/things to do:

Check oil/water/tyre pressures (car + trailer)
Wash horse
Someone is pulling his mane & tail & generally tarting him up tomorrow

Then taking:

My clothes, hat, gloves, boots (never wear spurs with him!)
Copies of the tests, mobile phone, cash
His saddle, bridle, girth, white numnah, brushing/over reach boots for working in
Travel boots/tail guard/rug
Water, bucket, sponge, sweatscraper, grooming kit, haynet

Anything I have forgotten? Venue is just down the road doing unaff prelim, god knows why I am fussing about it

I used to pin a note on the steering wheel of the lorry just to make double sure i'd remembered

Just managed to find the passport in a pile of paperwork! Thanks for the luck, I am just aiming not to get dumped on the ground during both tests

Definitely the tests! D was in charge of my test sheets last week, and forgot them! Very useful when I'd never ridden P12, and had only glanced over it before leaving

He was made to go grovel to our lorry park neighbours to scribble the test down off their sheet.

Spare breeches just in case you do hit the ground?! (I took some!)

Schooling whip

Spare stirrups (although I only do for XC)
Bottle of water/crisps/snacks
tyre inflater (tools for changing a wheel or breakdown card if you have cover- trailer needs cover in addition to vehicle)

I will get the registration number and sort this tomorrow online - something else I had forgotten! I am only going locally but do not 100% trust the towing vehicle I am borrowing

personally i wouldn't take my horses passport with me ( I've never been asked for it !) I'd be worried it could get lost.
but for safe keeping and proof of ownership ? why not take a photocopy of it and leave it in the lorry or tack bag.

Please don't shout at me for not carrying my passport !!! but how many of you have been asked for your passport ????

It's illegal to transport a horse to a competition with a passport. That's why most people do it.
