What have yours all had in common?

I only seem to deal in black and white! 6 horses. 4 grey, 2 black. OK, Wig is very dark bay but as close as you can get to black, especially in winter.
All geldings - coincidence to begin with but then because I was on a geldings only yard and didn't want to leave it.
All nigh on perfect in traffic. It's the one thing I won't compromise on.

Apart from that, they've all been different. Blue would buck me off as soon as look at me but I never cared at 12 years old. Eb was certifiably crazy but safe as houses and my absolute rock growing up. Arch was (to ride) still is (to handle) incredibly strong and stubborn but the sweetest cwtchiest boy when you're not asking him to do something he doesn't like. He seems to need me (emotionally) more than the others did so he's the one I really have that bond with. Monty was just Mr Perfect, Charlie was sensitive but cheeky and Wig is my saviour. He and Monty are the most similar in temperament. Mont was more talented but Wig tries harder, Mont didn't need to try, it all came so easily to him.

4 impeccable white stockings and a lot of white on their face. I always say you don’t drive the paintwork/a good horse is never a bad colour but I am drawn to what I am drawn to…
Also, they have all been much more responsive to ride than anyone expects - no kick along cart horses here! View attachment 133950
@abbijay they are all absolutely stunning!

Yup, another who has always owned good eaters 😆 my daughters pony always calls to me when I come to the stables or field, my mare remains aloofyly indifferent after 12 years 😆

Please indulge me, a long boring day today so had a play on Canva with the pics I have stored on this pc..;) A few of my type from over the years. Cob seems to be a common theme and I obviously like a coloured too. Variety is the spice of life. No favourites, loved them all in different ways and for different jobs. 😊

Ooh, my picks would be the Norfolk cob and the TWH, what a beauty! 😍

I always seem to end up with either no socks (and that’s always the bigger ones) or 3 whites, with the dark leg being the off fore (for all four ponies so far). It’s not something I’ve actively sought out, although it was admittedly one of the first things I noticed about Penny when I saw her advert, but it’s become a bit of a running joke with the youngest child now…

You picked well, the little Norfolk cob was barely 14.2 and jumped like a stag and was as fast as a greyhound. He was head hunted at XC at a price I couldn't refuse, I never bought him as a forever horse, just took a shine to him at a sale. The TWH was an absolute dote and the most comfortable champagne ride. I have been very lucky over the years.

Here are mine in age order, taken before I lost my old boy Pat (at the back) aged about 30 after 15 years of ownership. All 3 criollo, all just over 14.2 although youngster (front) is still bum high and probably going to make almost 15.
I always quite fancied a Criollo but at the time I was actively looking there weren't too many about unfortunately. 😊

Had a good few and honestly can't say any of them had much in common. Agree with Rowreach though that manners were pretty much an essential with all of them, including the donkeys.

Mine all arrive having had one lifestyle and within a few weeks of living with me and having a lot more turnout in company etc. ALL then express strong opinions that this is VERY important to them.

In fact all the horses I have ever owned have very strong opinions and not afraid to communicate them to me, in common.

I think they are my ideal horse both in type and size. My boy was probably half criollo and had he been gelded would have been my perfect horse.

I think mine has got at least some Criollo in her, she was imported from Argentina.

I would think almost certainly so. Do you know where they imported to be a polo pony or something else? I seem to remember when I was researching them that they were quite popular as polo ponies. That may not be so now though, this was about 30 years ago!

Cheers. She was imported in 2012 as a polo pony, that's all I know.
