What height horse for a rider over 6ft?

Just musing really but what height horse do you taller ridersride? I’m 6’2” and 14yo so I’m just wondering about what type and height ofhorse I would be looking at for future reference. Thanks

It depends on the rider weight and ability and also the horse build a 16hh tb will be very different to a 16hh shire!

Quite a lot of factors to be take in, are you short-backed, long legged. Are you right weight for height etc. Same questions for the horse.

But don't rule out smaller horses, my dad had a 15.2 Criollo and he's 6'3

I'm 6'1" + and have a 16.2hh TB and a 16.3hh ISH. I have ridden smaller horses successfully but I wouldn't buy a horse for myself that was below 16.2hh. I still think I look a bit big on the two I have got! (Please often think my coloured is a 'pony' when I post piccys as I make her look small )

You look fine on them all, i am 5'11" with a short back and really long legs, i have a 16.2 and a 17.2 and dont look any bigger on my smaller boy as he is a bit stockier built so it all depends on what you are looking for i personally wouldn't get anything smaller tho

I'm 5ft 11 and I have a 16.2. He takes up my leg he's a decent build.

My 15 yr old son is 6 ft and 10 st, he rides a 15.3 polo mare. She is a stocky build, not a typical TB

I'm 6ft 1". when I was looking last year I tried a few different horses and ended up with a 17.2 warmblood x shire . I didn't feel comfortable on the 15.2/16 size as it felt like there was nothing in front of me as I towered over their heads!! When you find the right one you'll know as it will feel right.

I think I'm JUST under 6foot. I own a 16.1hh shirextb and a 15.2hh cob. I am a bit tall on my cob but I don't weigh alot and i don't look silly on him so it doesn't matter much

im 6foot 3inches and i have a 16.2/3hh i weigh 12 stone but my tb seems happy enough.

I'm 6'1", weigh 12 stone, and ride a 16.1 and a 15.2. Anything over 16.1 is a very long way down to the ground when you fall off. My ideal size would be 15.3.

My husband is 6 ft 4 and occasionally gets on my 16hh cob and he looks fine because the cob has a very deep girth.
