The recent hi-viz posts on here have got me wondering whether my mare and I could be more visible on the roads. We always wear hi-viz when we go out, I wear a long sleeved jacket in winter or tabard in summer, and she wears leg wraps.

I'd like to buy us both some more but I'm not sure what to get - I'm not keen on exercise sheets (she certainly doesn't need one), can't use noseband strips on her grakle and she has a very thin tail so wouldn't want a tail guard for fear of losing it. Any ideas? Pics would be welcome too

The neck bands!!
Would recomend the thicker ones though.
Yes i did find it hard to londrein with a excercise sheet but saftey matters!!

I have a tabard and that is it atm. Am planning to buy some hi viz waterproof overtrousers when money allows too. (Or maybe will sneak onto xmas list from my other half. Not very romantic, but oh well!)
I would like to buy some stuff for my boy to wear, but can't get things to fit him (18.1 shire). Companies idea of XL seems to be 16.2 - 17hh. I don't know what we count as then - an elephant maybe?!?

I have an equi-fleece gilet which I wear daily and an equifleece exercise sheet for the colder/wet/poor visibility days. I think that's more than adequate. I don't ride in the dark so reflective gear isn't necessary. If people can't spot the Equifleece stuff they shouldn't be on the roads!

I always wear a hi-viz tabard or jacket, and I always use a hi-viz exercise sheet for my horse if I'm hacking out when it's dark or if weather conditions are poor.

I have a hat cover, yellow road menders jacket.

Horse has exercise sheet, neck band and brushing boots.

If I cant be seen from space, I dont have enough on.

I wear a tabbard & hat band

The Welsh Cob has high-viz brushing boots, tail bandage (which needs to be repaired), an exercise sheet & some velcro pieces which are currently on martingale.

But I want MORE!!!!!

Hat band, tabard, boots, tail thingy, rug if its wet, browband and noseband covers, martingale cover, ummmm think thats it can never have to much!!!

Totally agree with Varkie, pink does show up better than they usual high viz yellow.

I go out in pink high viz tabard, pink reflective hat band, and my horse wears a VBandz wide high viz breast plate (really shows up well), high viz leg wraps (make sure they have the reflective strips) and a VBandz little high viz reflective velcro wrap.

Have a look at http://www.v-bandz.co.uk/EQUESTRIAN-HI-V...y-Neckband.aspx

Have you looked on V-Bandz? There stuff is really quite big - one of their excercise sheets fits behind you saddle and attaches to your girth straps so would fit.

Yeah have looked (Looked yesterday infact as they were recommended on here). They seem to say their XL fits up to about a 17.2, which obviously isn't big enough, and then you add the chunkyness (He is a chunky monkey) and there is no chance!

I've got the exercise that fits behind your saddle and fully recommend them. I hate the ones that fit under your saddle as they always end up getting rucked up but the V-Bandz one is fab.

QR

Jack has V-Bandz leg wraps over his boots and a tail wrap, all in pink.

I have the V-Bands over jacket - pink as well.

During very cold weather I wear my Musto Sung Reflective coat.

Hi-Viz tabbard from JJB sports very very bright much brighter than my horse ones and then the high vis brushing boots mine have high vis strap and hi vis strike pads which make us really noticeable. Get called the mini police horse now.

I get laughed at on my yard but I don't care, I tell them it won't be me who gets run over !

I use

pink tabard under a flashing rambo tabard
pink hat band
flashing lights
pink boots on back yellow on front
excercise sheet or reflective tail guard if I don't need the sheet if its a nice day !
pink noseband
yellow neckstrap
and finally a pink hothatz hat for when its really dull
yellow stirrup thingys

Think thats about it

I always make sure I have something flo on

At the moment I only use a hat band but I have just ordered a tail wrap and leg bands. I will also dig my tabard out and start wearing that.
