What Hoof supplements do you recommend?

Im thinking about giving my boys a hoof supplement as their feet are looking slightly crumbly at the bottom.

There are so many different types available to buy, I don't know if the cheaper ones are any good or whether the only one that works is farriers formula, which seems ridiculously expensive!

Is biotin good? and what about the NAF hoof care products?

any advice gratefully recieved!

I have found feeding magnesium has worked wonders for my girls feet and she has a rotated pedal bone, its cheap as chips as well which is fantastic, for about 2&1/2 years prior to this i had her on an expensive one, naff laminaze 5*, it didnt make any difference to her feet all that time, the magnesium showed its magic in under 6months

I use Biotin (Equimins) and I have noticed a difference in my boys feet, he hasn't been on it over the summer as he doesn't get feed and his feet aren't as good as they were in winter when he was being fed it. I have heard good things about NAF rock hard and Equimins hoof mender.

Sorry to hijack but P_i_B would you be able to give me some info on feeding magnesium, like where to buy it, how much etc as I would like to try it. Thanks
 
Kevin Bacon does a hoof supplement which is pricey but it worked miracles on my horse. She used to be unshoeable with pretty much no hooves but now has very respectable and shoeable hooves! His hoof dressing is also very good.
 
I use naf profeet,

love it

tried formula 4 feet which I know works for some but they deteriorated. so back to naf

the liquid is more palatable than the powder

on feet- didnt get on with kevin bacon though frank liked to lick it!
I use naf profeet hoof rub 5 days a week and cornucrescine twice.

am going to get some hoof heal at some point

seems to be working though.

I found the Naf Pro-Feet liquid supplement worked really well on my mare - to the extent my farrier asked 'have you put her on something new?'. I hadn't told him, but her new growth was visably improved, growing in so much stronger it changed the angle of her foot slightly (for the better).
 
NAF Profeet has worked wonders for a mare on my yard, i just cant believe the diffence, shes been on it for about 5 months now and hasnt lost a shoe for ages.
