What horses do your horses not like ?

Archie loves every equine he meets (donkeys included) instantly, regardless of size, breed or colour - he was even whickering at the very aggressive little wild stallion we met on Gower and trying to get closer to him to say hello. Monty chooses to hate every horse he meets until he decides whether they can be trusted or not. Very few can apparently.

ETA - The day my friend and I rode past an ostrich farm on our bombproof ponies was an interesting one.

I have a tb that is scared if all small white ponies. She is also scared of Shetlands but doesn't discriminate colour wise with them.

not horses related but another mare is scared of people on crutches
 
Mine's not bothered he's naturally inquisitive so gets on with anything , will groom them if he likes them and walk away if he doesn't. Unfortunately he's been the one that's been 'bullied' by bigger types in his lifetime - the ones that won't take the hint because he won't kick back so usually he ends up bitten or cut .

Amusingly we went to a dressage competition a few years ago which was very posh in terms of everything- everything competing was warmblood and at least 16.2 .... complete with rider, trainer and groom. They all refused to walk by my horse, who is coloured , which was right next to the gate ! Haha. I did get some very grumpy looks which then turned into conversation and 'what a fab horse' once they discovered that he'd won the arena with a score in the 70's and theirs were still blowing bubbles at mine in the trailer park !

ETA- my guy loves shetlands and any pony types , usually not too impressed with bouncy sporty types but that may be down to his past experiences . He likes the types who will just potter about and eat with him without any dramas !

My boy likes most horses! I can't think of one he's met that he doesn't like! We don't any tiny tiny ponies on our yard, no shetlands or anything, so I have no idea what he thinks of them but at 16 I would have thought he'd have seen most things in life :D

Livestock is another question. Cows.... He's been on the working farm for 2 years nearly and still dislikes the cows. They are OK when they are far away (most of the time..) but behind a hedge or close up they're pretty scary! They are on the yard in winter and we have to battle if we want to go through the barn! He seems ok with sheep (unless they're making a racket behind a hedge) and ducks he likes to try and put his nose on (same with the farm cats). He's better then he was, but I can't imagine he'll ever be much of a fan!
 
Sheep are always met with wild eyes from my youngster. Both of mine are also not keen on the mounting block my OH slaved over making it for me. I haven't told him that they don't like it yet!
 
All of them. That's why she is on individual turnout -- she tries to eat them.

That said, she usually tolerates them when I'm riding or handling her. I say usually, because she takes irrational dislikes to individual horses, more so than her usual disdain. Usually when hacking in company, she will go anywhere -- the front, the middle, the back. Whatever. But there was an Irish/ShireX mare at the barn and when I hacked out with her, Gypsum got really pi$$sed off and upset if she (Gypsum) was not in front. Couldn't stand being behind that mare or worse, beside her. Got really offended.

Horses are strange.
 
Shetlands for my very suspicious, very quirky lad. We were on a hack once and he saw one. He bolted :D
 
Mine absolutely freaked at a poster of a black horse which had been put up near the gate into the arena. Eventually (a couple of weeks of walking past it sideways with much snorting every day) she got brave enough to touch noses, realised it wasn't actually a real horse and immediately started ignoring it. I expect we'll have another melt-down when the poster is removed......
 
Was out on a hack once and someone came down the lane towards us leading 3 mini Shetlands, the only way to move him out their way was to get off and lead him into a layby as he was frozen solid, eyes bulging. Was quite embarrassing really!

Donkeys he is ok with as there is one at the yard there but used to be a horse there who was petrified of it.

He's also scared of cows.

Oh and horse poo on the road 🙄 he's been known to stop dead and snort at it... he's Welsh d which may explain it!
 
All of my lot love everything. If it's got four legs they love it, if it got two legs they love it, big, small they don't discriminate. Takes ages to get through the local pit village when they want to stop and say hello to all and sundry and for some reason one of them has a particular soppiness for all things toddler and baby related - absolutely loves em, which I think is really weird because for me all things babies and toddlers are the stuff of nightmares
 
An old friend of mine used to run a trekking centre. She had a foal born overnight and whilst the morning trek was out the vet had been and suggested mum and baby could do with going out in the small paddock.

20 odd riders on bombproof ponies returned from the trek 30 mins later and there was carnage. Apparently an hours old foal is beyond terrifying - horses and riders flying everywhere!
 
Diva cannot cope with a Welsh A mare we're looking after at the moment - no idea why, pony's never done anything to her, but for whatever reason she's decided that she's going to use any excuse she can to generally give this little pony a rough time. It will only approach me hidden behind the stable now where D can't see it!
In fairness to Diva she hates any horse which dares try and get a cuddle off me. She's like, "No! get off! that is MY human! only mine! leave it alone!"
It's how I catch her when she's being tricky when she's in season....go stroke another horse. Even just lean over the fence and PRETEND to stroke it and she comes flying over looking mightily offended.
 
My mare has a real problem with small grey ponies. There were two at her old yard that would terrorise her and every time we meet a grey pony on a hack her ears go back and she gets all snarly.
 
Mine share a field with a Shetland and both drive so not those common ones. Just each other! The gelding is super jealous of the stallion giving his best friend attention but the stallion just keeps clear!

Arghhhhhh got scuppered by our nemesis at a show today, small coloured shetland zooming across a field behind the arena, cost us the win as we had to whip across the school and turn round to keep an eye on it :lol:

Maybe I need to get one as a companion for her to beat up, or would that be cruel to the pony....? :p

Sorry phone being weird I meant to say he's fine even with the Shetland and goats on the yard but seemed to have an issue with Sparkles lovely cob when we met him. Got full of himself and trying to show off (may be down to sparkles cob being entire) but he (sparks) really wasn't bothered and thought Goliath was being a douche bag! Never behaved like that with another horse before!
 
My boy hates Apaloosa's but is best friends with a skewbald. Go figure.

Non-horsewise he's not keen on black and white cows when they move but stationery they are fine?! But pheasants get him every time. It's unfortunate we are stabled on the same lane as a dairy farm of black and white cows :D
 
My usually fantastic cob, Ffin, took a dislike to a pony once, no idea why but he made it clear he would stomp it, if allowed.

Kevin scared the living daylights out of a kids pony once, no doubt because of his size :D Kevin doesn't dislike other horses , sheep and daffodils are his nemesis!

My little traditional cob, Moses, met another traditional cob at a show and was totally blown away by it, he couldn't take his eyes off the other cob, it was really weird. Did make me wonder if they were related in some way. Did not get near the other people they were quite caught up with what they were doing, I suppose I was the competition.
 
I've just remembered that the Diva hates leg straps on rugs. I have to remove them and replace with a fillet string. She doesn't kick out as she's far too polite, but she makes a weird noise and gets very uppity about it!
 
I'm on a dairy farm with fresians which my horse adores however a few miles down the road is farm with Herefordshire cattle which he regularly has a melt down over. It seems black and white cows are friends and solid browns are enemies.
 
Daughters welsh cob X basically hates all other horses. If another horse so much as looks in her direction she's all tail-swishy, ears back, teeth bared. If she could snarl she absolutely would! Hacking in company she has to go at the back so she doesn't try and kick anything.

She puts up with my mare mostly because she keeps away from her as much as possible although I have spotted them grooming each other at fluff shedding time in Spring.

Sadly I think this behaviour has stemmed from the fact that she was bullied by two other herd members in her last home.
 
I've discovered mine is petrified of mules. When my knee is better (direct connection there) I have arranged to take him over for a proper introduction as we both do TREC.
