It's probably warmer here now than it was for spells in the summer.

Drop in temperature forecast for tomorrow though.

This time last year it was minus 2 overnight...

However I think last time we had a warm autumn we got Beast from the East to make up for it...

I did a blanket clip on my little dartmoor yesterday, he has suck a thick coat and was hot, I was hoping a nice cold winter would help to shift some pudge but the grass is still growing and he is still muzzled!, wanted to ride this week as got some leave from work but Jester hates the wind so it's just not worth the battle, roll on spring

Sadly, this literally pours off the fields, and the land drains can’t cope. I think they literally have nowhere for the water to go, as the drainage ditches are over flowing too. ?

Have the same problem here as council don't maintain the ditches.

My dad spent weeks during the summer digging out and clearing the roadside ditches. Then even longer with sraining rods trying to clear out the pipes leading into them.

Theres been so much rain that it's pretty much all in vain.

I did always fancy a swimming pool but just not in every single field!! ?

My lads back in a no fill. I have a feed room full of soggy rugs after the weekend. I ended up thatching the youngster as he was shivering and looking miserable after a freak hail storm on sunday. We had blue skys and we were in T-shirts then the heavens opened.

I've got more grass on the fields than I have had all summer. We don't seem to get proper seasons anymore

We moved here in November 2017 and I remember it being so mild that I would sit outside at dusk watching the ponies grazing.

We had a couple of heavy snowfalls in December (one memorably arriving while we were putting the Christmas tree up which made it quite magical! And then of course as you say, the beast from the east arrived.

I'm not a huge fan of snow but I'd be quite happy with a decent snowfall this year. It would just be nice for the little mini shetland to be out with the others unrestricted for a while.

I’m not complaining as my ponies are all still out, I have plenty of grass and I’m hoping I don’t need to start my hay for a few more weeks yet as I made half as much as I usually get and was worried that it wouldn’t be enough for the winter. I’m now thinking it will be.

Grass is growing like crazy so pony is on restricted grazing. Except that restricted "grazing" is now 2ft deep mud. Tried strip grazing, but I'm just ruining more and more of my field. I'm just hoping it suddenly gets cold and dry in December, the grass stops growing, the ground dries up a bit, and I can open up the whole field.

I'm a total worrier, so I'm already trying to project how much more the climate will have to change before my current pony set up becomes completely unsustainable (but I cant afford anything other than the one field she's currently in ?)

Last year the rain started in November and pretty much didn't stop until April. Here at least we didn't get any snow either and only a handful of hard frosts.
This year the rain started in October, and so far shows no signs of letting up.
My field is already under water so I have opened up the middle of my track earlier than I wanted, as at least the grass covering means it's not mud soup and there's somewhere for them to get out of the worst of it.
Annoyingly my gateway is my lowest point of my field, I haven't seen the ground there in a week or so.

It was the same last year. Still mowing my lawn in December. Then we got drought conditions in April and May. I hate mud.

I closed off one of my 2 tiny pony paddocks 2 weeks ago on Weds, it is very poor keep and was as bald as a badger's.... it's got green tips across it and the 'pony track' from one mini gate to another is covered!
I'll be chuffed it my 2 top paddocks will hold mine another 2 or 4 weeks.

My winter paddock is untouched apart from 3 or 4 nights of B Fuzzy on it last month, if we get more cold weather, I'll be v happy indeed! It's my lowest lying one and gets sodden quickly. Currently no sitting water on it......
