I would suggest getting a large post count, causing some controversy but not enough to be considered a troll or just dam right nasty, just enough to be considered to be strong minded or speak your mind.
Then add a bit of personal stuff in the Soapbox, sob story is ideal. VOILA forum clout is yours
oooo great post! it can be very frustrating when you need some good advice and you get plenty views but no-one wants to give you some advice especially as many people on here will have some good advice! Great post, also hope ur horsey ok x
It's just because I noticed that there were a lot of posts with lots of views but with little or no comments. I did wonder if these people were not very well liked?
But it looks as though I will need to buy some "clout" though

Perhaps you'd like to join me, oh newbie?
I, nice auntie Shils, will take care of you, and introduce you to my forum contacts.
And all for one quick, painless little transaction - you won't even feel it leave you!
Deal?

Got to say, i think one way to get clout is to have a large supply of virtual hot chocolate, and hand it out frequently and generously (that and popcorn)- seems popular
