I backed my mare a few months ago, she was hell to fit a saddle to - everything that seemingly fitted her worked its way up her neck as soon as I put her out to trot on the lunge (she has a very forward girth groove). I was gutted that my WOW (which I absolutely love) was one that did this
So in the end with the help of a very sticky gel pad, the only saddle which stayed put was the Thorowgood T4 Cob. Problem is I HATE IT! I figured I'd just put up with it for a few months and she'd likely change shape so I could maybe try the WOW back on her. Sadly though the Thorowgood still seems to be fitting her fine. After a jumping lesson yesterday, I just cannot get on with it - its the most unsupportive saddle in the world! I feel like I'm sitting on a plank of wood with pathetic knee rolls which my knees just go past. It's hard enough to sit to baby leaps without a rubbish saddle trying to force me off balance!
So is there anything at all out there that is similar in fit to this saddle but far nicer in general? I want leather for a start (hate synthetic!) and just generally comfier with more support, I dont want big knee blocks or anything, just SOMETHING there would be nice. Can't be very pricey either... as my house keeps falling apart
My WOW fitter mentioned I could get a balancing strap added to my WOW which might work, however obviously this is rather expensive and I don't want to do this if it won't work. Has anyone had success with this? I am also wondering if my weight sitting on it might well keep it stuck in place as well?
