I always understood it that an anglo arab is thoroughbred x arabian in any capacity as long a said horse has a minimum 12.5% arabian.
Tamarillo is somewhere around the 25% + mark I believe, but he isn't an AA as his sire was registered as a PBA.
Anglo Arab is 50% TB 50% Arab - any other percentage is a partbred.
Well the rules must have changed in recent times as that certainly isn't how it used to be. If that were the case an awful lot of the Anglo-Arabs I have known/seen couldn't be classes as such.
To me an Anglo-Arab has been, and always will be - despite any rule changes - a mixture of Arab and Thoroughbred blood in any proportion.
As far as I am aware (as with many part breds or 'crossbreeds') you can have up to 87.5% of one breed and 12.5% of the other for it still to be classed as an Anglo Arabian.
