As title really? What made you chose it?

For me I would say eventing as there is XC and I find it the most varied. I also SJ quite a lot but any pure stressage is rare!!

Stressage = boring
SJ = Boring + you need too much control
Eventing = XC = the best thrill you could ask for

eventing - because that covers all aspects and nothing beats the adrelaline rush of galloping at a fixed fence with a half ton horse!

plus its wayyy more social than dressage, and you get more value for your money in eventing

lol!

yep, as above. neither of the others on their own float my boat. just love the thrill of teaching a horse about xc and then going out and putting it to the test, there's nothing like it, "woman and beast in perfect harmony." (or not...)

I love dressage---the idea of that precision and power combo appeals to me, and the feeling that you really have to communicate. I want to give eventing a go too, though---did my first XC fences last summer (never had the chance back in Canada), and thought it was great fun, and such a confidence builder.

I used to be an out and out showjumper, I also did a bit of eventing and hunting. I thought dressage was for people who are to scared to jump!
After I sold my showjumper Rocky I decided I wanted to work in a yard again and applied for jobs in showjump and event yards, at the time I had my lovely dog Barney but none of the jobs I applied for would allow me to have my dog

I was chatting to a friend who told me that olympic dressage rider Bar Hammond was looking for a groom, so I phoned her. She would let me have my dog so I went to work for her.
I started to ride her lovely old GP horse Chagall and I was converted. It took me months to learn how to ride him properly but my god it was worth it

Riding that horse was the best thing I had ever done in my life

So after that I was in love with doing dressage and have never really wanted to jump since.

i haven't really 'chosen' a discipline as yet i kind of do a bit of everything or anythig i can hitch a lift to

I do love the rush and the thrill of xc though so for that reason i would have to say ODE's are my favourite and you get to do a bit of everything in them too!!

I used to do pure dressage on my old pony, mainly because thats what he was good at! And i did love it, it was a great feeling to get that perfect test done and that feeling when you're horse is going just as you want it, in a lesson, lol and i have learnt so much! but i have always jumped at well, and missed competing in sj and ODE's, so now that i have moved onto my sisters eventer, i cant wait to event him this year!! its so varied, a bit of everything!

My parent's aren't horsey so I spent all my free time as a child 'helping out' for a woman who effectively became my horsey step-mother. She evented, so it just seemed to be what you did with horses. Never occured to me to do anything else.

I never much liked dressage until I got the mare I have now, but I always had talentless horses before

and never had the motivation to school them much. But I've got a dressage diva friend and she got me hooked a few years ago - I wouldn't say I enjoy it as much as eventing, but I do find it very satisfying.

I used to SJ but had a horse who couldnt cope with going against the clock but was totally sound jumping so switched to eventing.

Another who jumped himself out of his confidence zone but was brill at dressage as it was safe! So switched to dressage.

I hate SJ now! Too much hanging around.

I would love to event again but realistically I dont have the time or inclination to keep a horse eventing fit. Plus it is so expensive. And where have all the hunter trials gone? They were great for getting a horse started!

So I do dressage at a low level, when I feel like it, and have fun. I still enjoy jumping though.

I like SJ - I just think it's fun in a cometative kind of way. don't take it too seriously though.

Eventing - I like to ride round a decent couse. love it!!

I get the biggest buz from hunting though - nothing better than jumping a HUGE hedge!

Well, to break the mould, my discipline is endurance. In a way it chose me, as my little pony just loves it and has a natural ability for the sport. Also, I don't have a lot of cash to spare and I soon realised endurance is the best value - you get hours and hours of competing for your entry fee!

I do enjoy x country and even a bit of stressage. But my girl will not settle over coloured poles - she just hates showjumping. So we stick to what we both love - haring over unfamiliar countryside for ridiculously long periods of time.

I just do whatever I can hitch a lift to, my pony can do most things because he's so experienced [with age! he's 20]. But I suppose my dicipline is SJ. The yard my pony is kept at is mostly populated by his old owners showjumpers. and mine used to be a JA pony so it is more 'his' dicipline than mine. We also get lessons from his old owner who used to compete on him. When we get transport of our own I'll probably be mostly competing in SJ though, as we both are well suited for it.

Eventing - cant stand galloping around at fences and getting all flat- not my thing.
Dressage - cant stand the judging being in the lap of whoever is judging at the time. Plus a good showjumper can do all the moves with a track of fences in front of them (ok so not 1 time changes but decent half pass etc.)
i love showjumping becuase you HAVE to be able to school your horse beautifully and have a point to it - ie get over massive fences. There is so much to learn its just brilliant!
