Just wondered is anyone can help me. My connie has managed to rid himself of a huge section of mane. Is there anything I can put on/give him to promote hair growth? Has anyone ever made or used false plaits? Is there somewhere I can buy them from?
Heeeelp!!

Shapley's MTG (Mane-Tail-Grow) is especially good on getting "missing manes" to grow back quicker.
As for replacement mane until it grows back horsehairextensions.co.uk do a good range of mane replacements that are simple to use and theres full instructions on the website too.
Hope this helps.

I have been using pig oil and sulphur (ebay) and my pony's mane has grown about 7 " in eight months now.

There is a product called Megatex (I think this is the name ?) sure someone will elaborate ! This is also supposed to be fab for hair growth. Have I got the right name guys ??

But I swear by PO and S....

There is a guy who show hackneys at a yard i used to be at and they use benzyl benzalate (sp?) which you can buy from the chemist as a treatment for scabies - they swore by it.

I use PO and sulphur for mud fever in the winter....do you rub it on the root- does it not make a right mess?

I'm lucky enough to have a skewbald cob whose white tail makes an excellent mane replacer for my cremello! I just hack a bit off and plait it in. The cremello grows no forelock at all so always has a Bert-tail replacement. Don't know what colour you need, but if it's white I'd be happy to send you some!

Bugley - I squirt it onto the roots, then brush it right thru to the ends of the mane, using just enough to cover the whole mane quite lightly. I also do the same on his tail, massaging it right into the tail bone, then more down the tail, and I keep having to trim it to keep it off the ground

I do this once a fortnight... I have to say that by the number of midges that get stuck in the oil, it's great for keeping the bites down - I brush the ****** out when I groom him, but they don't reach past his oil wall -so is fab for sweet - itchers too..

It makes the hair so easy to brush thru, I might try using some of it meself :)
