I have been looking around for some rubber matting (as cheap as possible) for ages and have finally found some at a good price and close enough to pick up.

I am stuck on the different types of surfaces though. Does anyone have any feedback on which would be the best matting top? Amoebic, bubbletop, croctop, studded or diamond? Obviously I'd want one which was easy to sweep and has decent drainage, so if anyone has any idea which would be best then please let me know!

This is the website: http://www.horsemat.co.uk

We have 2 different types at my yard. Our mats are a different brand, but my stable has bubbletop which is fine, but some of the others have something v similar to croctop. The croctop-type mats haven't worn as well as the bobbletop ones - they are pretty smooth now and harder to sweep.

I have 3 bubbletop and 3 easysweep (which are kind of + like but wide apart) in my stable, and they are both fine really. They have the grooves underneath and haven't noticed any drainage problems so far.

I have Equimats (smooth both sides) and cheaper heavyweight black rubber mats with bubbles. The Equimat is far easier to muck out and light enough to life regularly to clean underneath.

I've read good things about the Equimats but think they are out of my price range. I can only stretch to £30 max per mat

Try Carpetpac on ebay, they are only a few miles from us and have had quite a few mats from them. The only pattern I'd steer clear of is the amoeba, I had some for the yard and my sore footed older horse and they are a pig to sweep when wet! Their croc top mats a fine though.

Thanks - I think I'll go with the croctop then.

I saw Carpectpac's listings on ebay and they are selling at great prices but with the delivery on top it would be very expensive. This company are an hour away so would only cost about a tenner in diesel in the van, whereas delivery is about £55 from the sellers on ebay as they are about 3 hours away from me.

i had some mats from horsemat as they are literally just down the road from me, bought the bubble top ones and as long as you use a very stiff broom they are fine to sweep.

What made you buy the bubbletop ones over the other ones? Also what thickness did you go for? The croctop is 18mm thickness as standard. Are they easy to move around and do they smell at all?

Thanks
