Is there any particular make you use the most? Is there any you dislike?

Im thinking of buying a polypad but have heard mixed reviews so wondered what you all thought?

I normally just go for cheap and cheerful, my £3 flouresent green pink equine saddlecloth being my favourite at the moment

I use the NuuMed half wool hi wither numnahs and saddlecloths. Not cheap but very good quality, wash well and stay like new. Wouldnt use any other. Personally I think that the Polypads use too much room up under the saddle.

Personally I don't like polypads as I can't get them to stay put. They seem to pull down over the withers (and they are about an inch too short for my jumping saddle, so it would rest on the seam, a pet hate of mine

).

I use nuumeds for day to day - wool lined if I'm feeling flush, or the everyday ones if not.

Do not buy a polypad!! I used to use them, then my instructor pointed out how they slip, so that by the time you come to get off, they are lying flat across the horses back, putting pressure on their spine. No matter how much you pull it up into the gullet, this always seems to happen.

I have a Bucas one which is fab, and has an anti sweat lining that lies next to the horse. TBH though I pretty much use cottage craft, good old cotton numnahs with the pimple grips to stop the saddle moving about on the numnah. I have a Stephens half wool pad that I put under the saddle, then a numnah under that.

NuuMed sheepwool half pad, or my prolite with a thin numnah depeding on the saddle/time of year etc guess it just depends on whats clean and what I'm doing and if it fits well with the saddle.

I have a lovely white poly pad that I sometimse use for dressage sometimes on the tb's.

I love my shires velvet black diamonte square, its a bit too nice to use for everyday though.

I use poly pads all the time, never slipped or pulled down if I have had the girth tight enough and far foward enough to start with!
They wash brilliantly and come in a dressage size if too short for you saddle.
I also like the bucas ones and have a Numed dressage half lined for my dressage saddle but the close contact one doesnt fit my saddle very well!

the ones that find the polypads sitting on withers - You have to pull the nummnah up into the saddle before you put it on the horse, then it doesnt pull on spine

Tried it and doesn't work. Girth as tight as it should be and in correct position. Always slips. Perhaps my horse is odd or the underside of my saddle too clean, lol.

I use the Roma Softy pad- have three of them! Kinda like a polypad, but GP/jumping shaped at the front rather than square. Love them.

Ahh I used to have one of them, quite like them actually. It got wet and then went mouldy

So had to throw it away.

We use the thinest we can find. Our saddles fit well so I see no reason to stuff a thick numnah under the saddle which will change the fit & possibly cause discomfort for the horse.

I find them too short the other way on my jump saddle - front to back

Perhaps it's my weird saddle - it's an ideal 17 1/2" but I have to use xl nuumeds as well

I use HKM Saddlecloths, as they are great quality and last forever, come in loads of different colours, shaped at the wither so they don't push down and most importantly the biggest size fits my 18.5 inch saddle really well, which not even XL saddlecloths fit very well normally.
