As above, I'm trying to decide what type of saddle pad I should use for my young horse while jumping to help reduce concussion. I have a stephen's sheepskin half pad that I used over a thin sheet with my previous saddle but I didn't get on with it - it was so incredibly thick I felt that it compromised saddle fit, especially when combined with the sheet!

I've tried polypads, but I don't like the way they seem to wrinkle up, and I also want to keep as close a contact as possible with my legs.

I'm now considering trying to find a thinner sheepskin pad, and using this underneath a thin sheet to get the full benefit of the sheepskin next to the horse.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the choice out there. Does anyone have any thoughts / recommendations?

I thought about that too but I've never used one before. Do you put the prolite pad underneath saddle cloth or between saddle cloth and saddle?

I use a thick nummnah, as something about dispersing the pressure evenly

Only thing about a prolite is that they do make the saddle narrower - i used one last year but they made saddle narrower and horse became sore in the back.

I use polypads and polly products nummnahs, i just have to make sure that they are pulled up into the gullet to make sure they dont slip

NuuMed numnahs/saddle cloths are great. Look at their web site for choice. I use the high wither half wool products, have lasted ages and washed up like new. They do a half pad with memory foam which is good, I use with one of their everyday saddle cloths so not too much thickness between saddle and horse. Quality products.
