Whenever I get a dog of my own, I will NOT be getting a Labrador....or, come to think of it, any dog which is big enough to jump up on sides, knock over metal bins or create utter, utter carnage wherever it goes
After the initial naughtiness when we moved in, our two girls have been very well behaved. We have a doggy door in our utility room, so when we are not here, they have free range over the garden and the utility itself (both garden gates are locked, so it is all secured.)
Anyway, we went out for a meal last night, and came back to find carnage in the garden
We had left two bin bags full of Christmas wrapping paper - no food, just paper - ready to be taken up the tip, and Dinnie, our youngest (6, so not a puppy!) had gone through and shredded the lot. She has also knocked over the heavy duty dustbin we have - no mean feat - and devoured 3 kilos of foreign finch mix
We cautiously left them both with the dog door open last night - normally we shut it when they go to bed - and it was just as well we did. My brother cleared up the lawn this morning, and there were eight bird-seed laden poos, which also contained evidence of paper, selotape and blood
I dont know why she does it; she can be as good as gold for months on end, and then every now and again she just blitzes and does things like this. We should have learnt by now - for she nearly killed herself twice as a puppy through her antics - but somehow you just expect them to grow out of it. She is a gorgeous girl in every other way, but this kind of carnage would be enough to put me off Labs for life
