What rugs are you using atm??

Irish Sports Horse has a Irish clip at the minute with half face and is wearing a 300g heavy weight and comes in at night.
She will have a blanket clip at weekend so will prob add a fleece underneath as I do like to keep her that little bit warmer as she has arthritis.
My last horse was a connie x and he had a hunter clip and he only wore a medium weight as he was slightly 'porky' and was always warm.

Whatever suits each individual horse in order to maintain its temperature and condition!

Atm that's one in a 200g with a fleece under, two in 200g, one in a 100g and three naked.

WB Clip grown out. Wearing 200g turned out. 250g in stable. Both full neck
Will be
Clipped again soon and when this cold will have 400g in and out

The unclipped TB is either in a medium weight full neck or a heavyweight no neck rug, the old retired mare is naked in dry weather or a halfneck medweight if its raining/wet.

Both Welsh A's

One unrugged and has a nice thick coat and out 24/7

The other has a finer coat but is unclipped and is in at night in a fleece and lightweight stable rug and out in the day in a 200g combo

Clipped 19 yo cob has got 300g full neck turnout on and in stable has 300g full neck under rug with 150g stable rug with no neck on top

Clipped ISH H/W turnout with neck, MW stable rug (got a warm stable). Unclipped oldie TB who doesn't hold her weight - HW Turnout with neck, HW stable with thermatex leg wraps.

Full clipped 5 year old in medium combo turnout with 100g liner.

Unclipped 3yr old who is very sensitive to the cold and doesn't have much winter coat in a 300g combo turnout.

Half clipped sensitive tb in 380g combo heavy weight with 50g liner.

One cob, one TB and one PBA, all good doers and out 24/7. Cob has 200g MW half neck, TB has 200g standard neck FalPro, PBA has a fleece under a 200g FalPro. All three toasty this morning, despite falling snow!

rising 4 warmblood in a 220gm full neck out and its only just gone below on occasions here in Cornwall. unfortunately if he gets slightlycold the very little weight he has on him disappears into thin air! last couple of cold nights he has had a 200gm stable with full neck.

Partially clipped HW cob (bleeding clip has almost grown out after 6 weeks), currently in a 300gm full neck and happiest he's ever been.

He's decided to live out at the moment (read that as, refused to be caught to come in from the field!) - so he's clearly cosy and happy.

thin coat (not clipped but like a full clip tb) is in 450grm day and night at the moment, that will drop down to 300grm when the temp comes up on friday

Unclipped TB in at night in medium turnout and I think heavyweight stable but the rug is years old so may be medium

Full clipped WB in 2 medium stable rugs at night and either heavyweight or medium stable and heavyweight turnout in day.

Will start using duvets at night when get really cold for my clipped one

My tb who has a chaser has been wearing a heavy with neck stable/turnout.
But he needs more condition and didn't seem very warm so last night I added a lightweight stable rug which he will wear underneath the main rug when in and out.

4 unclipped and unrugged.. 1 with lightweight who will upgrade to medium if it stays really cold but starts raining too..

Arthritic unclipped cobbie is in a 200g middle weight, and he's always toastie. Will only switch to heavyweight when the really cold weather comes! :)

My cold ISH is wearing either a lite weight stable or medium (depending on the weather) UNDER a heavy weight stable combo at night, and he's got a heavy weight t/o when he's out during the day. How he coped living in Ireland I'll never know- oh wait maybe it's coz he's spoilt showjumper! Lol :D

connie with irish clip, stabled at night with a fleece and a medium weight on top but with temperature falling even lower tonight will put on the heavyweight.

Both mine (one IDxTBx Sec D and one ID xcob) are fully clipped, they have Snuggy hoods on (because they're both grey!) and until Sunday they both had 200g rugs with full necks on. They've never seemed cold before, but on Sunday one was a bit tucked, what little coat he has was standing on end and his girth went up another hole compared to Saturday so he's had a 350g put on. He's had it 2 years and never been cold enough to need it, but I think he's starting to feel his age a bit now that he's 17. It's been a lot colder here in the past and I've not noticed him like that before. The other one (also 17) was still toasty warm so is still in the 200g. They come in overnight.

Coloured in the sig is a tb x, he is fully clipped, in light work, in at night out at day and is in a 220g medium weight with a full neck

Connemara - hunter clipped but grown out in 350g
strange mixed breed native type from Holland- Hunter clipped, grown out a bit though 400g
Fully clipped- but again, a bit grown out now! ISH in 300g 'chillcheater' stable rug plus 100g rug on top.

They all live out 24/7

mine live out...

tb - 450g cause he is a bit skinny and i dont want him using his body fat, its his first year living out (plus its -2 at night at mo)

the other... not sure what breed she is, but super good doer - 180g. she was in chaser clip but is a wooly monster and has nearly a full coat grown back.

both with full necks.

Unclipped ISH, naked.
Unclipped TB Mare, 200g with neck.
Unclipped TB gelding, 200g without neck.

They all live out and last night it dropped to -7. ISH might get a rain sheet on on Thursday, as at the moment we have heavy rain forecast, but in cold dry conditions, he's better without.

If any of them appear cold at any point, I will reevaluate.

Our little old section a has a lightweight rug on (no fill) but last night I put on his 100g because it really was cold and he's gone off his feed a bit so i worry he won't keep himself that warm. My fully clipped mare is in 200g with neck but I know she's feeling the cold a little at the moment but dont want to layer her up too fast - I have a 300g lined up for when it gets very cold but I think I'm going to have to maybe throw that one on soon and invest in something even warmer for deepest darkest winter at this rate!
Our fluffy tb x is in 200g and fine in this x
