What rugs are your horses in atm?

Was just thinking while busy at work!! my fully clipped ISH is still out in just 200g full neck rug 24/7 he seems really warm in it but considering its nearly december I feel he should be in more!!
My non clipped retired mare is only in 100g rug
 
fully clipped Connemara is out during the day in a MW with neck and a rain sheet, overnight he's in a summer sheet, duvet then LW stable rug over the top.
Arab (unclipped as not doing any work as she's injured) is in MW turn out, then a sheet, fleece and thin stable rug at night
 
Broken horse - LW, just to keep the downpours off her.

Oldie - swapping between a LW and occasionally a MW, depending on the weather.

my fully clipped ISH lives out 24/7 on the side of a hill with no shelter (yup i'm cruel - but had her in a field with a shelter for a year and she never used it!)

anyway = at the mo she's out with a full neck HW combo, a LW stable rug (100gm) and a wool rug... we're getting temps up to about 6'C during the day at the mo - but if milder than that i take either the wool or the stable rug off during the day - all back on over night...

i have lots of rungs to start putting on her once it gets properly cold up here (like the week of -9 we had last year!)
 
Mine is also on the side of a windy hill, fully clipped and in a MW. Although it is sopping wet and blowing a gale, the temperatures round us are still pretty mild. I bought a cheap outdoor thermometer to put in my horse's stable so I can tell what the temperature is doing during the day/night

Mines clipped fully, she is in a Mark Todd universal sheet, a full neck 150g "liner" rug and a MW/HW stable rug at night (its an amigo HWT which isnt actually that HWT!) In the day she is in her full neck liner, with a 300g turnout with a neck with no fill. She never feels that "warm" though!
 
Bog in Premier Equine 300g turnout and then at night has literally just an underrug with neck and nothing else. His stable is lovely and toasty and I was so shocked 2 nights ago when he had a fleece and his underrug on that he was boiling and sweaty. Less is definately better!! Its like the thinnest of duvets and it does him fine. Unbelieveably mild at the moment in Dorset.
 
Mr M is in his same Amigo Light weight rain sheet and he's as warm as toast, but then its not really been that cold here in Yorkshire, he's not clippped of course so he's fluffing up nicely.
Py, unclipped but has been in a medium weight for some while, so he's not too fluffy apart from his neck area so his rug is also working well for him at the moment, in fact I worked him for a hour in the school and he didnt even get a sweat on

actually - not sure where you are but we're down to about 2'C at night here and 6'C during day with a bitter wind - so not that mild

My fully clipped Arab is in here Rambo Ultimate already...that's 400g fill. When the cold weather really starts to come in she'll get her dress circle sherpa on, it covers her tummy and zips up her neck with elastic top to stop and cold air getting in

ahem.....
fully clipped ISH (but a wimp) out in day in 300g stable rug with 450g full neck turnout on top,and snuggy hood. in at night with same stable rug with 400g full neck stable rug on top and leg wraps.

fully clipped TB-out in day in 300g stable rug and 350g full neck turnout,and snuggy hood. In at night with same stable rug with 350g full neck stable rug on top,and leg wraps.

unclipped shetland (but a real wuss)-out in day in LW turnout with 350g full neck turnout on top, in at night in a thermatex, wool blanket folded up his neck,and 220g stable rug.

im quite sure a lot of people will say its too much, but they are happy, warm (but not sweaty) and it works for me so????

(and as an excuse, i used to produce show ponies for my sister and have never got out the habit of rugging up well!!)
 
tbx on the side of a hill with nothing on.Hoping to keep him naked for as long as poss, then when I do decide to rug him up he will appreciate it !
We are talking wintry showers before I might consider it.He's turned away for the winter so I don't need him to keep clean
 
My 5 are all in rainsheets only, purely to keep them clean (have very limited time to ride this time of year, so don't want to spend hours scraping mud off).

None of them are clipped, all live out 24/7. 3 purebred arabs, 1 Anglo Arab and 1 TBX.

The two oldies will go into heavyweights once the weather really starts to get cold, but the three boys will possibly just stay in lightweights depending on how severe or not the winter is.
 
My big fella is unclipped though he's an Polish Warmblood x Appaloosa so he never seems to grow a full winter coat and he's is in a MW with full neck and he is out from 8am till 5pm everyday and is toasty whatever the weather!
 
selle francais with a trace clip who is living out 24/7 in a rainsheet-just about to put the neck on it :P Aren't I mean? She'll probably go up to a mw beginning/mid december when I clip her again
 
Appaloosa x is out naked on the side of a hill, and ex-racehorse is out on the same side of hill but in a 100g and neck rug, neck rug only been added since we had all this nasty rain to stop it running down his shoulder!

ETS they are both out 24/7 too.
 
woah, that's a lot of rugs, what will they have on when it actually gets cold?!

in response to OP, my TB has a full neck MW on at the mo (he was blanket clipped beg of Oct but that has pretty much grown out now..) he lives out 24/7
 
Both of mine are only 5, ample body fat and out during the day.

Farra is blanket clipped, but with all bum left on and at the moment is wearing no fill t/o and 100G stable rug though as it is going to be colder will shortly go to 200 T/O and 200 Stable rugs.

Chancer is full clipped and wearing a 200 rug when out and 200 at night but if in during the day then a 100 rug.

Both are plenty warm enough - I like mine cool/warm rather than warm/hot or they get uncomfortable and rub.

I was on a showing site yesterday and could not believe the rugs people had on some natives - HW and MW at the same time in this mild weather - and these were not OAPS living out - poor things must be so uncomfortable.
