What rugs are your TB's in at the mo???

Or perhaps they're just not clones of your horse...

Don't recall saying they were. If a horse has 400gm rug on now what on earth is it going to wear when it gets really cold? People seem to think if they are cold the horse much be cold too but horses do not feel the cold in the same way we do. The only reason my horse even has a rug on is that I can't clip him so try to minimise the coat growth, not that it makes any difference

Not really the point is it? Just because your horse is fine in whatever you've got it in, doesn't mean everyone elses' are too. My horse is lukewarm (not boiling) in a 400g overnight. There's no reason to assume that people can't tell the temperature of their own horses, just because they do things differently to you. What I do when it gets colder is my problem, but I'm sure I'll manage.

My TB broodmares who live out are in middleweights now, and they're unclipped. They'll stay in them until it gets really cold when the Heavyweights will be out. I have one mare who will have an underrug on too, as she feels the cold more than any other horse I know!

My TB stallion is out 24/7 naked still. He seems rather happy and hasnt been stood at the gate once yet.
hes coming in tomorrow for a rug fitting as i am pretty sure he'll have outgrown last years rugs but he will be back out naked until i feel he needs rugging.

out in the day in 120gm full neck stable rug with a 360gm full neck turnout on top, and a snuggy hood.

in at night in a thermatex, full neck 350gm stable rug and leg wraps.

he's just warm enough, not over warm by any stretch of the imagination!

Bloody hell! What on earth does he wear when its really cold?!

I clipped mine yesterday (almost a blanket clip) and put him out in a medium weight with no neck, think I'll up it to a heavy weight with snuggy hood tonight.
