x 1000 unless this is a rescue case there is no way on earth a healthy animal requires trussing up under all of that. I dont know how on earth you expect him to be comfortable never mind not sweat/itchy/dandruffy :eek:

I have to agree with you TT. That's another horse that's ready to go to Siberia or the Arctic. ;)

:eek: My anglo is hard to keep weight on too and she's in 400g (Duo, 100g outer with 300g liner, no neck cover) and I was feeling that I was being far too soft on her. You neddy is in 870g! :eek:
 
My MW irish Fuzzy is in a MW anorak 24/7 at present, whether in or out - and comfortable in this.
Little fuzzy is still sporting a 2 week old trace clip & has no rugs on at all, has field shelter to go in night and day if wants to. Was quite comfy this moning & again tonight when having tea & drugs :)

<TFF slopes off to hide head in shame at having a clipped elderly pony with no rug on>
 
My TB is in a lightweight stable rug with a heavy weight combo on top and he is luke warm - so all good there. He has a blanket clip.
My fully clipped Arab was in a heavyweight combo turnout today and came in shivering his little bare feet off. I have had to put lightweight stable/fleece and heavyweight combo on him tonight. Also gave him a warm feed when he got in to bed. It took him 25 minutes to defrost enough to stop shivering :eek:

I am feeling very bad about the poor little lad being so cold. Naughty horrid mummy that I am.

Has to be gullet/shoulders & belly clipped for health reasons (sweats v badly in full winter coat since cushings arrived) but I never-ever rug unless there is prolonged heavy wet & then thats for the odd night, or part day with a rainsheet just to keep the little oap dry.
The rest of the coat is superthick & teddy-bear warm :)

Last year he lost so much weight this year i have only added rugs when hes felt cold once the weather drops to normal he'll be in his 450 hw and 100g liner and thats it but each morning he is warm not hot or cold if he was hot id take a layer off. He is so hard to keep weight on that if he loses it now ill never get it back on he is a competition horse in full hard work.

His diet isnt right for him then if he's loosing weight like that. Unless he's sweating it off under all those rugs.....??

His diet is spot on for him he eats as much haylage as he can eat in the field and stable is fed breakfast and dinner on a high fibre condition food. He is just a delicate tb I know many horses who are the same, its not like I keep him in that many rugs when the weather warms up. WHat should i Do let him freeze it off just because putting an extra rug on is too much!!! Did I mention hes a fit dressage horse in full work.
