what rugs has everyone put on tonight?

Trouble is, being a Persian Prince (you've heard of the Royal Cobs of Persia, I'm sure?) he will just set one of his assassins on me if I don't maintain his standards...

Ninja shetland by any chance?

^ Here's one practicing it's deadly assassin skills on a poor little doggy. :(

^ This one's not sleeping, oh no, it's plotting bad things.

You never see them coming until *bam* your guts have spilled over the ground and a very small, hairy nose is snuffling in your pockets for any spare polos :(

My fully clipped TB is in a 300g turnout which he'll also be wearing in the day tomorrow. Weather forecast tells me it's -2c now and will be 1c during day tomorrow. Brrr. He is fit, healthy and full of beans but on the lighter side weightwise, don't want to rug him any more as he is perfect temperature now, so just making sure he has ad lib hay both when stabled at night and when out during day, plus lots of fibre in feed.

My boy (Appy x) is fully clipped and is wearing a Under rug with neck cover and a HW Combo stable rug.

My ISH is only partly clipped and is wearing a HW Combo stable rug.

For the first time ever I have kept my horse in his heavyweight OUTDOOR rug    Normally I change into his indoor snuggy rug but as it has no neck cover and with the temperature dropping to -3, I thought I would be nice to him!!! I had to give him a good groom and re-arrange his rug - old habits die hard!!

First time this year Ive put my horse into a heavy weight rug as he is out all night and its -3 then the wind chill on top of that. He is blanket clipped and he was a little chilly in a medium this morning.

My hafligner has a trace clip & was in a lw rug & yesterday morning he wasn't very warm so he now has a MW on. Mums cob has a lw/mw on & he is always nice & toasty. My 4yr old has lw stable rug on with lw turnout over the top & he isn't clipped. As for me I am now sat infront of the fire as it's to cold :p

My retired but young TB has a wooly coat, a combo duvet (MW) and a heavy combo turn out over the top, shes toasty has ad lib hay and is holding the weight beautifully :)
The cob has half face, half neck and chest clipped and is in a MW high neck TO she is a good doer and has ad lib hay
The welsh D has a TO with a 180gram filling plus his own fluffy coat and double mane to keep him warm and his ad lib hay
They all live out on a hill 24/7 where it can be a bit sharp.
They all have hard feed which consists of barley, sugar beet and chaff, they all look really well covered :D

All mine are out 24/7

Four Arabs in H/Wts with fleeces underneith and one Anglo Arab again in a H/Wt with a fleece They all have neck covers.

My little elderly New Forest feels the cold so is in a M/Wt no neck cover.

The temp dropped to -4 last night and it is said to drop to -6 tonight and tomorrow.

They can get into field shelters and the stables if they want too.

My boy is totally ready for the Arctic! :D

mine is out 24/7 with haylage and hes got a 450g standard neck, a thermatex full face hood and a 200g full neck turnout over the top. Snug as a bug!

he does feel the cold a bit though bless him

Living in tbs- Snuggy jams, lightweight 100g full neck stable rugs, 200g stable and 350g combos (unclipped) oh and stable bandages!

Living in minis and ponies-200g stable rugs

Living out tb- rambo optimos with 400g liners (trace clip)
old boys- one in m/w one in h/w
ponies-300g h/w turnouts!!

I got to the yard tonight and one of mine was wearing her 400g full neck (up til now she's been in a 340g no neck). Her rug was skewed half way round her body and as soon as she saw me she started rubbing her neck on the door frame and kept grabbing her 340g on the door and pulling it. I took that to mean "no nasty neck rug please mum" so I swapped her back.... I hope she's not chilly later (she is blanket clipped) but she really did seem rather irritated, felt pretty hot to the touch at the base of her ears and she'd drunk all her water. She went back to eating hay once I'd changed her over and refilled her water...

The other one had a thin rug under her 340g, no neck and seemed fine (trace clipped).

My TB is fully clipped and in his stable.
He's got a HW standard neck stable rug on (it's pretty thick 400g I think) and then a HW combo on top.
Hopefully he will be OK, he was just right this morning, if anything a smidge warm.

My TBx is living in at nights and chaser clipped, and he's in a no-fill, no-neck rainsheet tonight. He's been in this rug since December, when I downgraded from a full-neck no-fill because he was too warm.

Believe me, nothing would make me happier than to get some use out of the array of beautiful and expensive heavier weight rugs I've bought for him, but I've been obsessively checking how warm and comfy he is every day since October and he's definitely not in need of anything more!

Dizz was clipped three weeks ago (DWB, first ever clip). Open barn - blinking freezing! Due to be minus three tonight and snow tomorrow. Twonk horse has pulled something in the field, so is in for the night, wearing a lightweight under rug with a neck and a medium weight without a neck on top. Ad lib hay. Straw blocking the draughty bit of the stable

Lots lol. B stable rug with neck, (quite light) heavy weight turn out, no fill turn out to protect heavy. S heavy weight turn out and no fill. L been too hot lately. Damn cushings so just stable rug.

Mines got a high trace clip and has a heavy weight with a bib on for a bit more warmth. He is in at night. Its minus 2 in Solihull tonight.

He's a Dutch bred WB who I've owned for 7.5 years and only been clipped twice as coat so fine. Is very fat if tonight's comment is anything to go by but that's another story.....

Unclipped Selle Francais, out 24/7 - 100g T/O without a neck.

Unclipped welshies - Unrugged.

My fully clipped mare is in a lw stable, a mw stable and a mw turnout over the top. I have just ordered her a HW turnout so when that comes she will wear that, with a lw stable underneath.

Last night she was in a mw stable and mw turnout on top and she was very cold this morning! bless her!

Baggage of a four year old (PBA)-nothing. Grumpy old git (TB, 19)-nothing. Big Idiot (TB, 19) 200gm no-neck turnout. All unclipped. Grumpy doesn't feel the cold and doesn't 'do' rugs. Last winter during the well below freezing weather, he trashed his 300gm turnout. I find the rug frozen to the ground and my blanket clipped horse looking rather pleased with himself. He wasn't cold in the slightest, despite having been naked for a couple of hours or more. Big Idiot is a hairy hat rack who would fall over at the thought of being out in the cold. Pampered ex-racer. Though he has finally grown a winter coat! Baggage is as tough as old boots, fat and hairy.

Still feel mean though. A bit. :D Oh yeah, they're all turned out too.
