What rugs have your horses got on at the moment?

My tb is unclipped out 24/7 and is wearing a heavy weight combo at night, naked or lightweight depending on temp/weather in day :)

None of mine are rugged.. When the weather turns cold though, my Dutch Warmblood mare will have a full neck Mediumweight on.. The ponies and youngsters will stay unrugged..

Was thinking about this cycling home from work... First day I realised I need to put gloves on and that means I need to up the rugs!

Tb living out... 300g in total, full neck. Made up of 200g, with 100g liner

Think I have to increase to 450g this weekend as its going to 0 and starting to get into minus figures. I was hoping not to do this for a few weeks, but don't want him getting cold. I don't want to put too much on as what will I do when it starts snowing etc... The very most I will go to with him living out is the 450g with a 100g liner, but I hope it doesn't come to that!

Don't worry loisb my fully clipped girly is in a 100g still, she is a hot horse though, and is also in need of doing again. Once she has been clipped again I will put her up to a 250 with a neck, she never really wears anything much thicker than that, even when it snows

Very hairy cob in a Weatherbeeta Joules rain sheet, so he keeps clean, well in theory. Hard as nails and hates being rugged up and hot and will rip his rugs off if he feels too warm.

Fat cob, not clipped = no rug out 24/7
Welsh Cob, chaser clip = medium weight no neck out days in at night.
Trotter, bib clip = medium weight full neck out 24/7.

Id x in a lightweight turnout and lightweight stable rug at night. He's being clipped tomorrow tho, so we'll have to up the ruggage somewhat! Although he's only getting a low trace clip.

Guess either I'm under rugging or some are over rugging as I'm a bit shocked by the weight of the rugs going on already!

My ISH with a 'cut and shut' clip (Half face, Neck and belly off, diagonal line from withers to half way along belly- taken off what needed to come off only!) is in either a 100g or 180g turnout depending on if the sun is out or not, and has *just* gone into a 200g stable rug the last couple of nights.

When it actually gets cold during the day (which to my mind is when it drops below -2) I'll up him to a 250 or 300g turnout and he'll eventually have a 350g stable on.... but not until it's actually cold in his stable- I have a 'max/min' thermometer in there, and even on the odd occasion it's dropped below freezing outside here, his stable hasn't dropped below 8 or 9 c.

:) We are already permanently below zero, I take absolutely no notice whatsoever of the temperature though, other than to note what it is.

I rug for the moment, if a horse is cold, whether it is 5C or -5C, then I deal with it. I really don't see the point in letting a horse get cold just because of what the thermometer says:)

I actually have no idea what weight my blankets are, MW's are more than a LW, less than a HW as far I am concerned, most of mine are unrugged, some are in MW's and two of the ancients have rain sheets over their MW's which seems to do the job adequately.

Unclipped ISH (current nickname Billy Bunter) is wearing a tasteful no fill rainsheet. To be honest, he would be fine with nothing but I am feeling sorry for him just now as he has a sore hoof. Expecting -2 tonight, down to about -4 at the weekend.

Little oldie is in a no-fill rain sheet to keep the worst of the rain & mud off him. Horse number two is in a 180g combo. My mare is fully clipped and wearing a 200g combo - it's my first winter with her and I've been warned she feels the cold so worrying a little bit, she's seemed cold a few times I've brought her in but I don't want to up her to 300g just yet as the temperature is going to drop a fair bit! She has the same weight rug in her stable.

8 Tbs out 24/7 no rugs and very woolly. The rest in at night out during the day and again no rugs all are fine and in good condition (well I guess some would qualify as being a bit obese:)) None are clipped.

All fully clipped, inc legs, wearing medium Amigo with full neck, + heavy Rhino or equivalent + Amigo rainsheet on top (to keep rugs clean - easier to wash) when stabled at night. Heavyweight Amigo or Rambo with neck when out during day. Old boy recovering from surgery and not yet re-clipped (apart from various surgically clipped patches!) has one less rug at night. When temp goes down later this week, underrugs, fleece hoods and thermal leg wraps or bandages will be added as required....

I presume you don't mean the medium, heavy and rain sheet all at the same time ie three rugs?

One of mine is wearing lightweight Horseware Rhino with no neck, the other 180gm Shires combo but only because she trashed her lightweight and am waiting for new Rhino. Both are unclipped and live out 24/7 and so far the one in the Rhino has been perfectly warm and dry. Will have maximum of 220gm when weather gets really cold but only for short periods of time (she says optimistically) and I do like to take rugs off completely when not too wet, windy & cold.

Tb fully clipped who feels the cold is in a hw combo to and a 300g combo stable. Although he is getting a bit colder at night so might have to put a fleece under his rug.

My unclipped tb is in a MW full neck turnout during the day then medium weight full neck stable rug with fleece underneath at night. don't know weights, sorry. She's a wimp, we didn't have this problem with my arab x welsh last year :p
