Just out of curiosity.... I'm looking to change mine since the horse came back from his disasterous sale. I've begun lessons with him and my god he's changed. I dont know what they did to him in those 24hrs but he's changed for the better! :D And since he has been going better I have noticed that I'm starting to struggle with the saddle. Its a bates VSD, and although very comfortable, I can no longer sit deep enough on it. Now he's holding and using himself better I'm getting thrown out of it more and had thought about getting a dressage saddle to go with it. After speaking to a friend though she has suggested I swap it for a decent jumping saddle and a decent dressage, rather than blow all my money on a new dr saddle. She told me that I would be more secure in a jumping for when I jump rather than my VSD and obv the dr saddle would help with my flat work. Now my other question will be do they do jumping saddles that suit people with short legs? The reason I had a VSD was because the flaps on a standard gp saddle were too big and made me feel really unsecure and I'm concernd that I would have the same problem on a jumping saddle...

Im presuming that you quite like bates, and they fit the horse... I have 2 bates saddles - the caprilli close contact jumping, and caprilli dressage. The jumping saddle has reasonably short flaps anyway, and the knee rolls & thigh blocks are moveable so you can swap them or move them to where you feel comfortable :) this might help??

Not sure what make Mystics saddle is but when i took it for repairs i was told it was about 40years old , i was surprised but i suppose if they are looked after well then they last.

I have a Morris & Nolan GP pony saddle, 6 years old, probably not what you need at all for your purposes or your type of horse but I can't sing its praises highly enough!

I have an Ideal 1350 VSD which is lovely and I've also recently bought an Ideal Roella from a fellow HHO'er which I LOVE :D it is so so comfy, fits my girl a treat now its been altered. I'd rather ride in that than my vsd :D

I have a pennwood WH saddle and pennwood close contact saddle, and i love them as does everyone else but these were made before pennwood saddles became pretty s**t

Barrie swaine semi-flex forward cut GP (more like jump saddle) for 1 horse and Saddlers bench VSD for t'other. Love both saddles but love the Barrie Swaine very very much!

I have the Thorowgood T4 Cob for Stan, although I'm finding it a little too straight cut for when we're jumping, so fitter bringing the Kent & Masters jump for me to try next week. Exciting times :)

I have a Cliff Barnsby dressage saddle (not used anymore) and about 18 months ago I got a made to measure one from the English Saddle Company - the best saddle I have ever ridden in - improved my position immensely and my horse could suddenly move his shoulders and started going out and winning!
