Thinking my pony is likely to be a Connie X and I have the saddler coming next week, just wondered what saddles you all have on your ponies? they told me I’d need a new saddle in Feb/March and she’s definitely changed shape since I’ve had her!
I’m thinking of getting a jumping saddle! I’ve never had one, only ever a GP!

17inch farringdon when young but the gullet wasn't wide enough as she matured it narrowed towards the cantle which put pressure over her mucles behind the center of the saddle

Think the Connie I ride has a thorowgood but he’s pretty wide so wide saddles that fit well would be things like Kent and Masters Lavinia Mitchell Harry dabbs Andrea Hicks Fiona Cork. Fee to be going on with there.

Mine has a Wow because I had problems getting any of the usual ones to fit him and I ideally needed something a bit bigger than he could take. He's not your standard broad native though and actually has a fairly narrow build so he's probably not that typical to use as an example.

One in a GFS monarch and one in an Ideal Impala. The latter had to be a specifically made one with 4 inch rear panels rather than 3. Fits beautifully.

Happy to answer any questions about AH Saddles :)

If my saddler can’t find something suitable we may need to go down this path. Is it correct they start at 2k? And do you do a say 17” Seat with a 16.5” tree for the horse?

Horse isn’t properly ‘backed’ yet

Bigger seats on smaller panels is a funny thing, makers say it can be done, and do it, but it's always a compromise and will only work on some shaped backs. Shortening the footprint means reducing how high you can support the saddle at the back, as shorter means lower. I would contact HQ or Nina Ball who would be both localish to you and chat through your issues with them, the saddles have plenty of space in them so often you don't need as large a seat as you think.

There's a price list in the drop down Saddles menu.

Oh guys…. Now I want an Andrea Hicks saddle ?

They are lovely saddles. I have two, one is a VSD I call it the GP which I ride in as my old hips prefer this type of seat now and the other is an Affinity dressage saddle which my pro rider rides my mare in. The mare is KWPN x ISH so has some draft in her she is quite wide and short in the back. Both saddles fit very well and dont move about at all. Well worth looking at, not sure which area you are in but Im in the SE and had Sam Wiltshire out to fit both of them for me. He is very nice and really knows his stuff.

My horse is a connie/tb cross and I have a Thorowgood T8 Cob which is a gp saddle fitted by Sam Gawn and it's great for all riding club activities and lovely and light to carry about.

Mine is beautiful. I had the seat built up a bit more like the classical dressage seat, as my pelvis just couldn’t cope with the normal width on the xxx wide saddles. The fitter I had really knew her stuff, she listened to how I was saying Millie felt in it and she went above and beyond to ensure I was completely happy before she left. She has been out twice now, once for initial fit and then for a three-month check up and she is coming back again in March to check things are how they should be.
It was a huge investment for me, but so far, I’m very happy.

I've got a stride free on my conny x. Luckily 2nd hand as you need a small mortgage for a new one.
I love it as does my mare. Previously had a brand of saddle specialising in native ponies which I don't think ever fitted her properly.
It's like riding a different horse now (my instructor agrees)
