What size is yours?

Horse, that is! My present horse is 16.01/2 hh. I am only 5'3. I think I could get away with something a bit smaller, but friend says not to, that I look okay on that size. Most of the horses I like advertised are 16.2hh, but I think that is pushing it a bit for me personally. So, what size is your horse in relation to you and do you think you have the right mix? This is mine for you to judge, btw:
 
i'm 5ft6 and my horse is 15.2hh!! i dont ride her anymore but the others i ride are 16.2hh ID and a 16.3hh IDxTB!! i will also ride the smaller horses/ponies!!!
 
im 5ft8 and have a 16.2, tbh wouldnt want anything too much smaller on the tb type horses i like, as i have long legs!
 
I'm 5'4 and my horse is 15.3 but rather leggy so if anything I look small on him. I also ride a 15.1 mare who I look fine on, though I'd probably look big on anything smaller.
 
the biggest ive ridden is 16.2 and im only 5ft1-2!! but hes not mine so it was a onen off! i have riden a 12.2 before (i bet he died just after!! im a heffa!) an di normally ride 14.2 and look a alright size!!
 
I have a small 15.2, she was the smallest horse i tried as i was really looking for a 16hh+, but hey!

5'8" and Bert is 15hh3 although is very broad with it so he takes up my leg.

I think we are a good size match although before i got him nd was having lessons my instructor always said she preffered me on a taller horse as my balance was so shocking.
 
Why is it that so many people think that they have to have a horse as close to 16hh or over if they reach the 5ft barrier???

I myself am 5'7", I ride a 14.1hh and my upper limit is 15.3hh, anything bigger than that I feel VERY uncomfortable on. I don't mean to offend those that have already posted (it doesn't necessarily apply to you), but from my experience, shorter people only seem to go for larger horses as a status thing - it is one of my pet hates!!

Fatarse - 17hh ! I agree that balance helps! (mine is a tb too)
zigzag - they are the equilibra leg wraps, fronts are size 2 and backs are size 3. His legs are rather fine tho!
 
I'm 5'7" and my horse is just under 16.3. He's quite a big beast at that though and I do think someone with a bit more weight behind them might get more out of him.

I've got enough leg for him but my upper body strength lets me down. I like my boys big though - I like the power!

I'm 5'4" and have a 12.2hh (he's currently for sale though as I have seriously outgrown him

im 5 ft 7/8 and ride a 12.2hh (every so often) a 14.2hh, 14.3hh, 15.2hh, 16.0hh & a 16.3/17hh

none of them are mine as im not allowed to own but the 14.2hh and 15.2hh are my loan horses, the 14.2 is a cob X tb so is quite stocky, and the 15.2 is a tb and still has growing room as he is only rising 4

Seeing that I do not even have my stirrups at full dressage length, I think I look rather big

However, my speed jumper was 15.1hh and a very narrow one at that - never felt big on her as she was a fiesty thing...

Then I also used to have an 18.2hh, whom I adored and was well suited to...

But I ride anything from 15.2hh upwards, indeed I may well be taking on the ride of a 15.3hh shortly, and so long as I keep light I have no probs with it

Ideally though, 17.2hh looks spot on for me.

Thanks , I bought a size 3 pair tonight for mine tonight and am wondering if they are going to be to big!

my other two are 14.2/14.3 but have been having lessons on bigger, bought mine cos i fell in love with her but I don't look small on her (I don't think lol)
 
I'm 5'8" and have a lot of horses. Most of my riding horses are somewhere between 14.2hh and 15.2hh. I like smaller horses to be honest. I find them far more exciting and more on my wave-length than the big 17.2hh's I used to have.

Actually I am a pony-girl! I love horses with a pony-mind.

By the way; I think you look tiny on that horse. He looks huge compared to you and your little short legs.
 
im 5'3'' and i own a 11.2 sec A, i ride him now and again!! and my 14.3-15hh cob i feel quite small as theres alot of horse around you!!! i used to ride a 17hh hunterxarab and i felt just right!! i wouldn't now im used to bear!!! i love 14.2 ish cobby types now!!!!
