5ft 4" and George is 16.3, but I'm not the lightest person in the world. George's size and chunkyness helps me to feel safe and confident (wish I could get on without a ladder though!!)
and Fleur is 'meant' to be 16h2 but in reality is more 15h3/16hish
I am personally comfortable on most sizes though. At one point when I was 16 I was competing a 14h2 a 15h2 and a 17h2 at the same time. At the moment have b**ggered my back again so am finding it hard to hold larger horses together but thats nothing a few trips to the chiro won't solve

I'm 5'8" and have a lot of horses. Most of my riding horses are somewhere between 14.2hh and 15.2hh. I like smaller horses to be honest. I find them far more exciting and more on my wave-length than the big 17.2hh's I used to have.
Actually I am a pony-girl! I love horses with a pony-mind.
By the way; I think you look tiny on that horse. He looks huge compared to you and your little short legs.

I think im like you tia! I like a small horse with a pony mind - they are just more fun!
Im only 5"2 so would like a nice 15.2hh, if anyones buying
I am 5ft 4 and my horse is 15hh...I would not want anything bigger and think we go well together. He is a very stocky Welsh D so looks bigger than he is.
I am 5'3 1.2" (that 1/2" is very important!) and Georgie is at least 16.3hh if not verging on 17hh. It was'nt supposed to be like that. After Tallagh I said I did'nt want another big hoss, found Georgie who was rising 6 and was 16hh - he was very poor, and when I started feeding him he started blinking growing and did'nt stop. I have told him if he grows anymore I'm chopping his feet off at the fetlock <g>
I ride a 16hh, and a 17hh. My 17hh is so responsive and willing it doesn't seem to matter that I'm 5ft 2! as far as whether the mix works - I think a lot depends on the horse itself.
I'm 5ft 3 1/2 (again, that half is important hehe) and Flash is about 15hh, maybe 15.1hh, haven't had him properly measured. I think he's still growing a bit tho, certainly outwards
I think we're the right size combination, although I think I look OK on anything over 14hh, and I do love big horses!
Daughter 5'6", I'm 5'7. Murph is 15.2hh. Daughter would have had something bigger but as I do the work whilst shes away i wanted somethiing I was happy handling and getting on! She sometimes rides 13hh pony - but not in public! She's not too hevy for her but legs are a tad long.
Im 5ft 3 maybe 4 and ride a chunky 16.1hh TB i sometimes feel big on him but everyone says i look ok! I know im daft! You look fine to me! This is me on sid
I am 5 foot and that all important half inch. Yes, i am a little squirt. The horse i ride most of the time is 17hh, so he really is miles too big for me - but my legs are longer than I thought, and i feel extremely comfortable on him.
I think there is a tendency among SOME (not all) small women, esp the more competitve types, to get the biggest horse possible. Maybe it makes them (us?) look like better riders, maybe they just like the extra power you get from a great big horse. I think its allied to she propensity of short men to buy great big fast cars.
its a sort of Napoleon complex, but for women and horses. Would that be a Josephine/Marengo complex?
I am 5 ft 10ish and I have a 17.2, Well hes actually 18.1 but hey it dont matter
I feel fine on him feel the right size for a horse for once. I used to have a 14.2 but I was ok for a while but got way too tall for her so sold her. I ride my friends 15.2 but hes a chunk I think I am a little tall for him but its no soo bad.
I am about 5'5, not super skinny but not overweight either, and my horse is a 15hh arab who i feel absolutely perfect on personally! I feel very small on my OH's 16.2hh stocky ISH (she looks ID), and sturggle to hole her together properly. My legs are relatively long for my height though and I actually think if you are built with long legs/shorter body in a way you can get away with a smaller horse as your leg can wrap round whereas if you have a longer body you end up looking top heavy, if that makes any sense at all?!? I noticed it the other day when my OH rode our older girl who is just a shade over 16hh, he looked so much bigger on her than on his 16.2hh, cos older mare is a LW/MW warmblood, whereas his is a MW/HW and takes up so much more leg and he just looks so much better on her! He looked really tall on Tia somehow, even though at 6' almost exactly, he shouldn't on a 16.1!!
I'm 5'9" or 5' 10" (when you're tall half inches don't seem so important!) and have a 15.2hh 2yo to make 16hh, a 16hh TB mare (rides very big) and a 16.2hh 3yo who is probably going to be about 17hh (her breeder said she'd be 16hh LOL!)
I think it's more the shape of the horse than its height that makes you feel ok or not...a horse with a deep girth is fine for taller riders, but a tall narrow 17.2 TB can feel too small.
