Posting for a friend so can't post photos of mare unfortunately - sorry!

This is a full TB advanced event mare who is still competing and will be undergoing embryo transfer. She has had a few goes and struggled to get a good embryo (only one on the way out of 3-4 goes) so it needs to be a stallion with very good fertility. Mare is small and built a little downhill so friend is looking to have a reasonably big stallion with good dressage paces but most importantly it needs to be a showjumper with a lot of blood.

Here are the provisos - friend has a very specific idea of what she wants!

Would ideally like a full TB stallion but needs to do embryo transfer as no chance of a natural covering. Stravinsky unfortunately didn't have good enough fertility for this particular mare

Might take a National Hunt stallion but stud fee needs to be non-astronomical and the foal would be for eventing so needs to improve the paces if poss.

Tried Mill Law - didn't take

Friend doesn't like the Primitive bloodlines as had rather bad experience with a youngster (nothing against them per se but just has the scars to remind her of it!).

Doesn't really like Trakehners - she would like a decent Selle Francais showjumping stallion if possible but drew a blank on which one. Needs to have really good fertility as well for this particular mare.

Has been thinking about Chilli Morning but worried that he is a little bit big and heavy - she'd like a light blood type if possible.

So, any thoughts? Foal is to keep, not to sell so doesn't need to be fashionable, just a nice quality stallion to try and improve the paces and the jump.

I think Chilli Morning only does frozen (which must make it harder) altho I havent had the call back from his people yet..

I have heard very good things about what this stallion is producing: http://www.ecuriedelasalle.be/etalon.php You can get frozen shipped anywhere. His results have been good, and (how to put this politely?) might have been even better with another rider. Nice thing with stud fee is you only pay 200 euros until you have a live baby. What fun choosing though, hope she gets a foal!

Not TB but very blooded....Caretino Glory at Brendons. His bloodlines are very much dual purpose and he is throwing some decent eventers. Our 2 yr old by him was the 'PAVO'/BYEH Yearling Eventing Champion of 2008, Best Colt and Best British Bred as well as gaining a BEF 1st Prem in Eventing. He produces horses with fab jumps and really athletic expressive paces. His sire Chinook was a GP dressage horse and so the movement is in there!

To breed another advanced horse I'd look at Weston Justice, Grafenstolz and Chilli Morning. None of the other eventing stallions in this country have done enough to prove yet if theyre capable of producing top level horses.
If looking at sj stallions it's worth a loook at the Zangersheide horses- everyone has their own favourite but there are some great stallions ther.

Have you thought about No Limit at Whorridge Stud (Edward and Clarissa Bleekman). He's bred for showjumping. He's KWPN, but on his pedigree he is 1/2 TB. He's 100 day tested. His offspring are lighter than he is and he is very fertile. I used him on my Intermediate level mare who is 19 and she took first time. Am looking forward to seeing what we get as my mare has Master Spiritus and Sunley Builds in her pedigree. I used him because I think my mare needed a bit of movement and showjumping blood in her.

As a build on the Zangersheide suggestion, we used Amiro Z last year (see earlier thread) - a half-blood stallion by Amigo TossXX out of Renommee Z, full sister to Ratina Z, and we are very pleased indeed with the resultant foal! I think his fertility is very good, and you can get chilled semen shipped over. Mighty Magic is another who is doing very well and is extremely popular on the continent; he certainly has the movement (see video) Finally, would also second the recommendation of Caretino Glory - the owner of The Tourmaline Rose used him, amongst others, and he has both the jump and the movement which he passes on to his offspring

Edited to say : You might also like to take a look at Contados, a young stallion who we have used on our event mare this year - available chilled, very high fertility, and really interesting breeding for producing eventer foals - he is by Contender out of a MytensXX mare. This is the link :

I can't recommend the stud highly enough - they were incredibly quick and efficient at getting the semen across to us

Ive got a stallion by Dallas, who has thrown some good event horses, he does medium dressage and has jumped up to fox bsja and is just returning to his sj career, he is a selle francais and got all his mares in foal last year, hasnt covered this year though, his foals are eligible for registration with Wetherby`s non tb register and he covers naturally, dont know where you are based but you are more than welcome to come and see him

Not at all - rather a refined looking horse actually, with a super temperament.

If frozen might be suitable then there is also Fleetwater Opposition.

He is trakehner through and through though

I'm at a bit of loss that UK stallions are being dismissed as "unproven" when the UK and Ireland have the top two studbooks in the world for breeding eventers!!! And that's with many of our best horses being listed as unknown breeding so we lose their results for the WBFSH calculations.

IMHO you shouldn't look at European stallions for breeding an advanced eventer. Go to one of the proven event sires that are already here. You'll be able to get chilled semen rather than fresh, you won't need to worry yourself sick that the courier loses the semen in some foreign airport and you'll be using the best in the world.

Caretino Glory has exceptional fertility, have already flushed embryo's from him this year, you're welcome to come and see him!!

Condios- he 's a lovely , elegant big blood type by cor de la byrere -i think that is selle francias . He has lovely elegant confo and super limbs - about 17hands. He is a international show jumper and am pretty certain has produced grade a's and v promising eventers, he looks like a v balanced good mover. google him you will like him !

I think you will find Weston Justice BE record one of the best of the stallions mentioned, consistancy was his byword.

Up With The Lark is gorgeous. Proven breeding and a better jump than Weston Justice.

Their BE records would say otherwise....

If you really want a TB I have one by Terimon who has turned out very athletic, and wonderful temperament -I wouldn't mind another by him

Terimon is better known for siring NH horses tho. I don't know what his fertility would be like now tho as he's getting on a bit I should imagine!

Thats probably not much use ! Sorry!
