What time do you do the horses in the morning?

Weekdays usually between 6.30am and 7am. Weekends, any time up to about 8am.

I am on a very small yard. I do two and the YO does the other three. Hers are done about the same time as me on Mondays and Fridays and at the weekend but are usually about 5am the other three days as those are the days she works.

However, the horses definitely recognise who does them so we never get a lot of stress because one lot are being done and the others aren't. I usually feed before the YO and then muck out around them, whereas she skips out before feeding. Ours aren't bothered when her side of the yard gets fed earlier midweek either.
 
Usually about 7.30ish, but any time between 6am and 9.30am (she lives out currently)
I'm usually the first one down at our yard, other liveries and YM come down any time from 9 to 11. (Faaaaar too late for my liking)
When stabled overnight I try not to be down any later than 7.30.
 
About 7:15 depending on traffic. The first livery on the yard is there about 5:30 and throws feeds in.

I rearranged hours with work to come in around 10ish which gives me time to muck out plus exercise when the Appy has working legs. Much easier in summer when they live out - my draft is disgusting in the stable.
 
I'm up at 5.30 but dont go to the yard (about 2 minutes away) until 6.30 on a weekday and 7 on the weekend. Everyone is DIY but there's only a couple of us on the yard at that time, everyone else is down 8/9am or later on a weekend.
 
We all go pretty early of course, but there are a lot less seriously early morning people than I thought! Perhaps our yard is more the norm then.. All of the horses on our yard have different routines and not a single one fuss when one is fed and the others not, which is super handy!

At my old yard I was first there at 7am, but I'm one of the last at the new yard. Different people having different routines around work.

Both yards the horses knew their humans though so weren't upset if others were turned out before them.
 
Every DIY yard i have even been on had a rule that you couldn't be there before 7am. Owners have always lived on site so unless an unusual circumstance or going to a show it was always 7am for me. I think that it was fair enough, they didn't want to be woken up. Now that horses are home its more like 8am!
 
Weekdays on the yard by 5.30 am, walk down with the dog. Aim to be be gone just after 6.30 so time to walk home, have breakfast, shower etc then leave for work at 7.30 am. 3 horses to feed turnout and muckout.
Weekends aim to be there by 7 am
 
On weekdays before work, 6am on the yard, muck out and turnout 2. takes me about 1.5 hours to do everything in the am as the fields are 20 mins there and back
 
When I was on DIY, generally 06:00 - 06:30 weekdays, about 08:00 at the weekends.

I'm now on part livery, so weekends are DIY, I'm generally there around 08:00. It amazes me though, there are a good handful of individuals on our yard that don't rock up to sort their horses until gone 10:30. One livery didn't come up until 11:00 yesterday! It drives me potty, as their horses will have been stuck in their stables since 5/6 the prior evening
 
Out 24/7 so it depends on toddler grandkids so can be anytime between 8am and 2pm but usually about 10 and again about 3 but lots of people around to make sure they are not in trouble
 
I pay the yard to turn out for me in the morning because apparently I'm incapable of waking up earlier than 8am. I'd love to be one of those mega productive people who wakes up and rides at 6:30am and then skips off to work. My yard is half hour in the opposite direction to the office, the traffic is absolutely dire in the morning, and I couldn't go on to do a 10 hour day feeling grubby without a shower. All that is not worth the hassle for the sake of chucking him out.

That being said, I'm always the last person on the yard, (usually leave about 10pm), so I guess that makes up for it...
 
it varies, sometimes it's 6.30, other times it's 8ish. I'm on the DIY section and it all depends on where I am going that day and whether I want to finish early! Horses all know the different sounds of our cars, mine will door kick as soon as anyone is on the yard if they ignored her she would be fine. But someone is handing over a handful of hay and she seems oblivious to the hay left in her net. :rolleyes:
 
When I was DIY I'd turnout around 6am during the week and a little later at weekend. I was one of the first on the yard but most people came early. One lady worked shifts and often wanted to turn out at 4am in the depths of winter but that's a bit too early IMO!!
 
I currently only do the mornings on a weekend as daughter does mon-fri (they are her ponies). I am usually out by 7 (they live at home), any later and i get annoyed with myself for staying in bed :) When i have to do them before work, i am usually out there by 5.30am. I am a morning person so its no problem for me.
 
I finish work at 4.50am and go home to bed, get to yard about 1pm, DIY on a livery yard so they are fed and hayed for me. On my 3 off days I'm at the yard for 10.30am

I always do things 15 mins later than I intend to in the mornings, so completely yet this!

SO jealous of all of you posters who have yours at home - the pinnacle of an easy life, and I’m on a fairly nice livery yard. Would still like to be able to do them in PJ’s sometimes, I won’t lie.

Agree. A 25 minute drive does not sound like a lot, but on a cold and dark morning I would happily do away with it:) I keep thinking of bringing them home, I have a barn which could be converted to stables and food storage, and at a pinch enough land, but then no room for a school.... One day, when we all retire......
 
Mine are at home (been waiting to say that for 22 years!) and live out, we have no ‘horse’ buildings here yet. On a working day they get visually checked when OH walks the dogs and lets the chickens out at 7 ish or when I leave for work at 7.50am, and again after work sometimes by headtorch. On non-working days it’s a lot more random.
 
I'm there between 6 and 7 most mornings, they are still in at night at the moment. Once they're out, at weekends I go up whenever but during the week it's still early as I need to be out of the house before 6.45 or I get stuck in queues of traffic.
 
Weekdays I leave my house just after 6am to get to the yard for around 6:20am. The aim to is to back home no later than 7:20 to get ready for work! I am always the first there and the others arrive any time between 7 and 10! As I am the first one there i feed all the horses their breakfast. Means I get the favour returned at the weekend so can go a little later, but I’m usually the first at the weekend too so doesn’t always work in my favour!
 
Mine have been living out at home for 3 years now and it still feels odd not to have to be out there first thing! If I go out now at 6.30 they are all tucked up in bed and give me filthy looks for waking them up ? so I usually feed them between 8 and 9. I can see the whole field and half the yard from my bedroom window which helps, so at least I can say I check them at first light!

:D i'm loving the thought of them giving you filthy looks for disturbing their beauty sleep! One of our oldies whinnies the minute the bathroom light goes on in a morning, regardless of the time. The bathroom light obviously means breakfast to her, she never does it of an evening/nightime though (unless she hasnt been fed yet)! If she did i would think there was a serious problem.
