Sorry if this goes on abit but need some external opinions. I have been suffering from a lack of confidence with my horse for a while and it has got to the point where I will make myself get on if there is someone else there but otherwise I will generally find a reason not to, we have just moved to the area and the yard we are on is full livery except for us so without paying my instructor each time I cant enlist someone to just talk to me when I ride and cant afford to pay the instructor 2-3 times a week. I ma wondering if part loaning her may be a good idea as that way she will get some work regularly (her confidence is lacking due to experiences before I got her and my subsequent lack of nerve) but also I will get to see someone else ride her which should help me and will hopefully be able to jump on her when said other person is there too. In theory I think this sounds good but I am hugely possesive of my horse and dont know if I could watch someone else getting on well with her or if anyone would want to take on a freshly broken youngster(first canter last week) over the winter.
Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated I am just feeling a bit isolated on this one I guess.

Well to be blunt, I think you have to do something to resolve the current situation... because a young horse in particular needs consistent and confident riding, or issues/problems will start arising.

And it doesn't sound like you're enjoying riding or horse ownership particularly at the moment either.

I think a share agreement could work really well. I agree its not the ideal time of year to try and find someone - but if you don't try you won't know! And it would be nice to have someone to discuss things with - compare notes etc. Why don't you enlist your instructor to see if he/she knows of anyone who might be interested?

I dont really want to change yards as we only moved there 4 months ago and as my mare is quite stressy I dont want to take her away from somewhere that she has settled into so well, to be honest it was the quietness of it that appealed so much in the beginning just with hindsight it might be a bit too quiet!! i have committed to having my instructor ride her once a week which I must confess the control freak in me hates but think it will definately be best for my girl. Why cant I just win the lottery and then I could pay an instructor to be there every day until I am over it
