what to put on a cut mouth?

There's something that helps heal cut mouths quickly but its not vaseline or sudocream, I just can't remember the name of it, so if anyone knows what it might be called that would be great thanks.

Alum - not sure if spelt correctly. You can buy at chemist and it is used for bed sores i think!! It is powder and you make it up into a paste.

I was recommended Iglu gel by someone on here. Certainly seemed to work although its quite dry so you have to spit on your finger to make it stick.

Alum solution. You get the crystals and dissolve in warm water. Very effective.

manuka honey. And vaseline when you put a bit in so it doesnt get worse.

How did the mouth come to be cut?

A bandage wrapped around a bit and then soaked in alum solution. The horse can then be stood in his bridle for 20 mins at a time with the solution in contact with his sore bit. That's what we always used to use for the showjumpers when I groomed years ago. Was very effective.
