Above really as I am seriously contemplating selling my pony for a reason, although some might not see it as a problem I do :( but just wondering what would really make you sell?

If, God forbid, I had a bad accident or serious illness that would permanently stop me from being able to look after her. Even then I would probably loan - if you sell, you can't control where they go to once out of your hands.

I am already considering selling mine because I sometimes find her really irritating, and also she point blank refuses to play my parelli games. I am probably going to buy a youngster instead.

Why are you selling your pony?

Extreme financial difficulty.

I've had mine a long time though and he's a keeper. Have sold plenty of horses in the past for various reasons - main one being to make some money on them and start again with something younger. :)

He just does'nt do ANYTHING I ask of him,Its like he tries to wind me up on purpose!! Somebody on the yard has mentioned Parelli training but I'm like  by it, somebody also suggested trying a Psychic (sp?) but again

Mildred, I think you are dreadful for wanting to sell yours just because she won't respond to your Parelli training, just a thought have you had her back, teeth and saddle checked recently?
Maybe you aren't quite as skilled as you would like to believe, maybe you need to attend some more training/rewatch your videos/review your books?
I wouldn't sell my horses because nobody would buy them and they are rubbish :(

You should consider the psychic, I had one for my horse when she totally refused to come out of her stable because I'd bought her a new pink headcollar. I had no idea, but as soon as I changed it for a brown one she was happy as larry.

I'd get the horse communicator back, but in all honesty I can't see a way forward with this horse. Most of my kit is pink.

I am about to sell due to financial problems - having been out of work other than a couple of weeks poorly paid temp work for nearly 4 months something has to give and horse and lorry is what has to go :(

Some I would sell for the right price to the right person ;)
Some I would never sell. :D
I can't think of one thing in particular other than it was not up to the job that I thought it could do when I bought/bred it.
If I thought one had a behaviour that was dangerous and unfixable I would either retire or PTS - I would not sell a problem like that on to someone else.
Thankfully all ours are 'doing what it said on the tin' at the mo :D :D

I've had everything checked, although my carrot stick is a bit frayed. Maybe that's the problem.

Really?? are horses that worried about things?

My little man is probably being tipped over the edge as he has to wear Pale blue and baby pink pretty ponies gear...

I think that a personality clash is is a perfectly good reason for selling a horse.

Extreme financial difficulty would be the only reason I'd sell a horse I planned to keep forever.

Nothing would ever make me part with any of my horses. I guess the only reason would be if they became seriously dangerous, and then I would still never sell them. Rather PTS than pass on a dangerous horse.

The only other reason would be financial ruin. But then I would hope that my sister would take them on.

To me a horse is for life, like a dog. For that reason, I never buy before loaning first or being 100% certain they are right for me. Sometimes things are tough but I stick with them through thick and thin, and have had to retire one early due to injury. She's now an expensive pet.

They do it over the phone, apparently there have been girls at the farm who swear by it, I'll find out exactly whats bugging him and making him so disrespectful but honestly a phone call could be £35-50

I wouldn't waste your money, I have always thought these pyscics talks b*ll*cks! I know someone who has used the over the phone ones and it was a waste of time. Really, they have never met you or your horse or seen you together, they are just con artists who will pick up things from your conversation / photo.

You would be better off spending your money on lessons from a good instructor to see if you can get your bond back. If it really is a clash of personalities then that is a good reason for selling, horses are too expensive and time consuming - if you're not enjoying it I'd sell.

I bought my pony off a woman who was scared stiff of him. She basically bought him because he looked nice, but used to give him calmer to go for a walk round the village and wouldn't even canter in the school she was so scared. I bought him and we are perfectly matched, we have had great fun hunting, hacking, competing and just messing around - some people / horses are compatible and some just aren't.

He's not dangerous he's just....annoying....and he's rubbing off on my youngster! who is going to be big and could therfore become dangerous :(

Being annoying is a good reason to sell, I was told this the other day by someone on HHO so I think it's true. Either that or have it shot - saves on having to deal with all the hassle of advertising.

Sounds like you don't like him and he will be very aware of that. It would maybe best then for you to try to find him someone who doesn't find him annoying, but please be honest about why you are selling as otherwise this horse may just get passed on over and over and end up in a downwards spiral.

Oh I would be very honest, I know what its like to go and view a load of P**..Mildred I don't mind advertising as I don't think he's worthy of being shot!!

The only raeson i would sell my boy was if he did not make the right height for me, at the moment i am 15st :o and he is a 14hh 2 yr old who was expected to make 15hh+. my aim is to reach 10 stone in the next year and i've been trying really hard so i WILL succeed :)
