Hi All
I have a 4 year old rescued cob (15hh and only lightweight) he's been broken since August and just taken everything slowly. He has been fab so well behaved and hacking out well even little bits alone.
In the last few weeks he has been going through a real 'cocky' stage but thought it would pass!
I went out with a friend on Saturday just on the road and he was on his toes so we didn't go far on the way home he had a rear and went fairly high but seemed to scare himself so thought that was ok. We got nearer the yard and saw a tractor (he has been around them and even passed a car and trailer on the road) he was not scared he just ran backwards reared downhill and slipped ending up on top of me!! Luckily I have escaped with just muscle damage and nothing broken although I'm in agony!! He is fine got up and ran back to the yard and a little stiff..
I'm not sure what to do now I'm 99% sure it wasn't pain related he was being naughty but I will get him checked. He's stabled at night but goes out for at least 7 hours a day and is fed a small amount of happy hoof and has hay.
What should I do next with him? I don't really know how to move on as rearing is the one thing I cannot cope with in a horse!!
Any help would be great x
