What would you have done?

Poor you what a shock - If I have a strong type to lead I use a head collar but with the lead rope around their nose if they're forgetting their manners.
If they get bargy we have been known to jump in front of them and shout to give them a shock! also use the end of the lead rope to wave in front of their nose - more of a distraction really.
Just maintaining expectations you lead they follow by your side.
Though if they bugger off let go!
Have been told off for leading in a bridle - broken reins and damaged mouth stuff.

Just one of those things, not a lot you could of done at the time but there is plenty you can do to prevent it happening again, at the end of the day horses have a mind of there own, everything we do with them is all about trust and respect.

Doesn't make any difference if you had a headcoller on or a bridle on really in my eyes, if horse is going to cart off (certainly one of that size) when if feels like it, it will do so even with a bit between its mouth, all it be you will have more chance of control.

Plenty of ground work will pay off...and a good pair of gloves.;)

Good luck.

Thanks guys.

She is now leading out perfectly, been out twice since and is behaving perfectly. I think it was her BF plus her adopted baby calling at the same time. Still all sorted now and she is back to her normal placid dope on a rope.

The best lesson is that they really can be unpredictable, always wear gloves and buy a dually. :D:D:D:D:D:D

Thanks again
