I'm currently in the process of trying to find a sharer for my 12hh pony but am unsure how much to ask as a contribution towards her keep.

She is kept at my own 'Yard' so there are no livery costs, through the summer she doesn't cost much to keep but through Winter it will cost much more as she will be in at night therefore needing bedding, hay and feed.

The sharer will pretty much have a free rein as I'm happy for them to ride/compete as much as they like but would like some help with stable chores (mucking out her stable in Winter/Skipping out and Poo picking in Summer).

Do you think £20 per week is to much?

i would say that is really good price :) i ask £10 a day 3 days a week and he is hacking, schooling and occasional jumping, you could possibly ask for that and half shoes but if you can afford to keep her with that then you will be over run with people :) just got to find a little rider now :) good luck! :D

No I don't think that is too much. I had a sharer for my 12.1hh pony when I had to get a 'rpoer' job and didn't have time for three! I wanted someone to come and ride/groom/love her three times a week, wasn;t worried about them doing any jobs, it was the attention that she needed most.

I found a young girl and she was paying £15 per week (10 yrs ago!!) I also stipulated that she have one lesson a week witha proper instructor (I didn;t have time to stand around teaching, I might aswell have ridden her myself!) Which she did - had a half hour lesson every week for a good couple of years.

She started paying £20 a week when she was coming 5 times a week and the pony was in need of a full set of shoes and clipping/rugging due to the workload!

The arrangement worked really really well, and my sharer was a star - still is only is now 20yrs old and at uni. Though she still comes back to ride the pony in holidays (sharer has hardly grown which is handy)

One thing I will mention - I was very 'strict' about how I wanted things done, and would regularly remind her if she didn't do things properly! I would have only got annoyed if I had not mentioned it as she learnt how to do things properly!

Thank you all, hopefully any potential sharers will agree that it is a fair price.

In all honesty finding the right person for her is more important then the money so I can be a bit flexible if need be.

Adverts are done so just need to put them up locally now :)
