Hi All

Can anyone recommend a really good oil/moisturiser for horses hooves to help their condition
my horse doesnt grow anything and has recently started cracking

Third for diet, but I also use effol for shows (and sometimes when i'm feeling flash at home :p ) because I don't like the smell of hoof oil and I think it is helping with WB hooves that got really dry over the summer- i was soaking them twice a day (4 buckets 4 feet= funny looking horse).

Hope you find something!

KEVIN BACON !! It's the only one my farrier reckons makes any difference and it really helped my horse over the summer...

I could have slapped whatever I liked on my horse's feet when they were slow growing and cracked but it would have got me nowhere - only saying this as there is so much to hoof health. My boy had WLD all round it turns out, and poor hoof balance that had caused it. He actually was fed really well. We went barefoot with a great trimmer and never looked back.

I've not used any hoof applications in years now (and I do have TB mare that has been known for for having crappy feet btw) good old water and a hoof suppliment (biotin or similar) and a low sugar diet keeps there feet ticking over nicely.

The changes in weather conditions can effect the horn further down so try to keep conditions the same all year through, which means watering them during summer, I always cold hose legs after exercise anyway so they get plenty of moisture all year through.

Naff products tend to be a favorite with folk, they do a hardner and moisture one :)

I use Kevin Bacon, he has good feet but i did notice a difference when i used it especially with the condition of his frogs.
Over the last few weeks his frogs have got really soft and falling apart, started with the kevin bacon again and in a few days it has already improved them.
I def recomend it but a good diet always helps.

My farrier says Kevin Bacon - although he said H doesn't need it as his feet are pretty good (even though he lost a sale ;) )
