Thought after my last post I would cheer myself up by planning my next rug purchase:

Mine has to be:
1. Rambo Wug - H/W
2. Rhino Stable rug with neck and a Rambo under rug for extra snugness

My horse is a rug snob; anything except fal or rambo is trashed within a matter of days.

Luckily all his rambos and fals are still going strong (got an 11 year old fal which looks like new after a wash) so hopefully wont have to fork out for any more this year!

We already have them but my favourites are

1. Weatherbeeta Orican Detach-A-Neck HW Combo-seen my horse through many a cold and wet day keeping her toastie and dry

2. Masta Regal HW Stable Rug with a high neck- not used yet, bought in Robinson's sale back in May, but it looks pretty cosy

Turn out I've got several different weights of AMigo rugs... cheap and cheerful and doesn't matter too much if they get distroyed!

Stable Godolphin falpro... Love these rugs keep the coat lovely and shine but not cheap!

Rhinos or Rambos for turnouts as they are the only thing that don't rub the big beastie. For stable rugs he has a mixture of brands, all of which fit him well and are still going strong after a good few years of use.

The ponies usually make do with Amigos or Weatherbeetas, they fit and last well.

Turnout rug is the Rambo Duo which I have had now for 4 yrs and wouldnt swap for anything else. Stable rugs are Weatherbeeta and Amigo. Both are really nice rugs. Fleece is the blue stripey Rambo Newmarket one (along with the others I have). She didnt need it really but eyed them up last winter but couldnt afford, got one for this year though, really nice and will suit her as shes grey!!

For my TB it has to be Weatherbeetas Orion & Orican full neck heavyweight turnouts 3 of.

For my TBxWelsh a Masta Zing full neck heavyweight turnouts 2 of.

They don't get stabled although they do have access to the field shelter.

XxX

I no longer use stable rugs:eek: I just buy turnouts now - so much easier to keep these clean when using in the stable and don't soak up piddle like stable rugs do!! I have Mark todd and weatherbeeta.

Hi, I found someone selling new Amego's which are 2000 denier and 400gms, for only £40 each!

got one each for the girls and the boy, so they will all match!

Anything less than 1000 denier gets trashed

In a nutshell:

Weatherbeetas all round for one of my boys (he has every one imaginable!)

Amigos for my other boy. They fit him perfectly.

:)

Saxon 1200 M/W turnout - had it years, it fits Dylan really well and always keeps him snuggly and dry, although if I clip this year I'll have to dig out the Shires H/W he's had for 2 years and never worn!

GFS 300g stable - up until last year I had a Weatherbeeta Jasper as my M/W stable rug, it gave up the ghost and I bought the GFS ... I absolutely love it, such a tough and well fitted little rug :)

Bucas! They are brilliant stable rugs nice and toasty for the horse and their turnout rugs have a layer which wicks away sweat and water so you can put it on him if he's been riden in the rain or is really sweaty so you don't have to wait for them to dry off. They are very durable aswell, weatherbeeta and bucas are the only rugs my horse doens't rip to shreds.

Def not buying anymore this year - have quite enough already!!

My boys have:

Lightweight turnouts (bucas smartex rain)

Middle weight turnout (one masta, one qualtex)

Heavy weight turnouts - Wug / Wug plus

Stable rugs - qualtex, bucas, and a couple of random fleecy type things!

I love the bucas rugs - mine have lasted really well.

The Qualtex ones are great - mine are at least 10 years old and still going strong. They don't make them anymore (company couldn't afford to keep manufacturing in the UK or something) so I was really pleased when my local saddler found 2 at the back of her stock room when having a clearout and they were the right size for my boys!!

TBH we have every rug under the sun that I could possibly need. I have no idea of makes though. I will be buying a new MW turnout though, and have already decided on a loveson 200gm combo. I find that they are very good quality, well wearing and fit nicely in my non-existant budget!!.

I would like a full set of Rambo rugs in different weights, but sadly the finances won't run to that :(, so thinking about getting a WB Tristar from Equestrian Clearance for my new one.

We have a new Heavyweight Rhino pony turnout this year (I like to have two of l/w, m/w and h/w turnout rugs and he TRASHED his expensive Mark Todd pony one last year :() so I'm hoping this one will last a few years as Rhino do the best rugs IMO! I'd never buy Mark Todd rugs again after the state he had last years one in. He isn't usually a rug ruiner either and he is turnout out alone as he is too dominant so i don't know how he managed it...

Have also got a beautiful brown 300g quilt from Robinsons which looks very snuggly too :).

I love the Mark Todd rugs for my boy - turnout and stable.

I do have a couple of Masta turnouts which I want to replace with MT's so that's my mission this winter :-)

And keeping said purchases off OH's radar - I made the mistake of bringing all Taff's rugs home once and he nearly had a coronary when he counted them...:-)
