OK, because I'm bored . . . and quite possibly a teensy bit sad . . . I'd love to hear what's for dinner in your house.

We're having an old family favourite . . . lemon chicken, asparagus and crusty bread.

Lemon chicken (sooooooo easy)

Chicken pieces (I'm using whole legs - as in thigh and drumstick attached, but you could use drums and thighs separately)
A whole lemon fairly finely sliced
A whole bulb of garlic - cloves separated but still in their papery skins
New potatoes quartered lengthwise
Rosemary
Salt/pepper
Olive oil

Chuck the whole lot into a roasting pan and roast uncovered in a moderate oven until the chicken is cooked through/just falling off the bone. Remove the chicken from the pan along with the lemon pieces to a warmed plate/cover with foil and a tea towel to keep warm/rest while the potatoes/garlic finish cooking in the chicken-y juices. Serve with steamed asparagus (or whatever you fancy) and some crusty bread to soak up the lovely juice.

It's ridiculously easy and sooo yummy. We haven't had it for ages (can't think why).

That sounds delicious. I'm going to save it to my recipes folder if you don't mind :D

I'm having a chicken stir fry sort of thing with some coconut milk/chilli/coriander etc chucked in. When I can prise myself out of armchair... Unfortunately already started on the wine :D

Of course I don't mind . . . and yours sounds lovely too. I'm now embedded on the sofa watching a tribute to HM The Queen . . . the family will be lucky if they get their dinner by 9 p.m. at this rate ;).

Just stuffed my face with home made king Prawn chow mein, just wish I'd made double as it was bloomin gorgeous. Just got Gok Wans new cook book and theres loads of great recipes.

Grilled mackerel fillets with salad dressed in homemade honey and mustard dressing, accompanied by crusty bread with lots of butter on!

Polar Skye, do you deliver? :D

Me, hmm, probably a yoghurt :( Had a very late lunch I didnt really fancy and didnt enjoy, and Im too warm to want to bother really.

Oh yum . . . I love grilled mackerel (sp?) and the dressing sounds gorgeous.

I think you're the only other person I've ever met who likes grilled mackerel! I believe I'm addicted to it - it's my fourth time this week. I don't eat meat as I can't stand the texture or the taste, and I don't like much fish apart from mackerel! Just off to get some red wine to wash it down with before probably falling asleep before 9pm.

Ive not had mackerel for years!

I used to like it, but my father and uncle bought themselves a boys toy yacht to go fishing (you would not believe the struggle I just had to spell yacht :D) and they used to bring ridiculous amounts of mackerel home and we all ended up sick of the sight of the stuff.
Relief from the rest of the family when they managed to sink the thing :p

Thin crispy sweet chilli chicken pizza (shared with hubby and daughter!!) Jacket potato, tomato and mozzarella salad. And a pear Bulmers! Mmmmmm

We went to morrisons and bought those £3.99 cups of pic n mix. We take great pleasure in cramming in as much as we can and then weighing it to see how much we are saving. me and hubby have a competition, unfortunately this week i lost. Any way by the time i got home i had stuffed my face wth so many sweets that i couldnt eat anything else. I seem to have developed a habit for this! Anyway my hubby had boiled eggs and my boys had beans on toast with cheese, ham, egg and cucumber.

p.s i now feel sick!

Sounds delicious!
I've just had butterflied chicken in a balsamic sauce with rosemary sautéed potatoes. Can't remember who's recipe is it now but did it for the first time the other day and it's scrummy.

Just wanted to add that none of the above is our usual menu! I normally cook homecook from scratch but refuse to do that on nights when we have sweets since i know sweets are the only thing on everyones mind! lol!

Had a lovely steak with LOADS of salad and a tiny portion of ben and jerrys ice cream. Was gorgeous, love a good steak

Homemade tagliateli carbonara, made nearly properly with eggs, bacon, garlic and parmesan, but with a sloosh of double cream as well. Plus cheesy garlic bread. Plus half a bottle of lovely red wine so far. Aiming to go to bed before I accidentally drink the rest, but you know how it is ... :D

That sounds lovely Theocat. That moves into first place in my fantasy dinners from this list :D No garlic bread though!

(the Lemon Chicken has moved down from the top spot, and 3rd is the pick n mix :D . Yes, I should just go and get my yoghurt and stay away from this thread...)

It was top of my fantasy dinner list while I was walking round tesco tonight, but now MiCsarah has mentioned steak I'm all jealous! :D

It was steak I had for lunch and I didnt love it.

Im a huge steak fan though. A huge fan of huge steaks even.

Friday night is always my night off cooking. Routine is, finish work, see horses, Read H&H & Farmers Guardian. Followed by Emmerdale.
