probably the best thing about winter for me is having the yard tidy, and horses fed and snug by 5pm, leaving me the whole evening to chill and do whatever i want, therefore in winter I actually have a social life!!!!! My view on life is all daylight hours devoted to the horses, all the dark hours devoted to me!!!!!!!
 
What do I like about winter, mmmm SNOW, or rather snowboarding trips to the Alps in the snow!!

Cold frosty days.

Stew.

Christmas.

But mainly snow...

Crisp, cold morning hacks. The sound of a barnfull of snuggled down horses muching hay.

Sitting in front of an open fire with my Jack Russell on my lap and hubby toasting crumpets, with cats all sitting in a row by the fire.

i dont miss the evil horse flies that have made my life a misery this summer (for some reaon they LOVE me)
One thing i do like, is the greeting i get in a morning when my girl is waiting for her brekkie, she knows its me as soon as i step onto the yard and i get a lovely neigh

Crisp frosty morning
Going out for a late night cuddle with horses when they are all cosy in their stables

Oh and I love it when you can hear the rain against you window as it's chucking it down but the horses are all toasty in their stables and I'm curled up in front of the fire.

I love the quietness of snow.
 
My little horse is quite content on box rest as the weather is so horrible he doesn't want to go out. Also the weather is so bad he often has friends staying in to.

The moon on the ponies' backs as they gallop up the field to the feedroom.

Hacking out in the woods by moonlight (or headtorch, but moonlight is special).

Crisp mornings, once I'm out of bed!

Mulled wine.

Log fires.

Ponies that look like they've stuck a hoof in an electric socket and a girth takes about 3 inches off their width, lol!

I love crisp cold winter mornings hacking out-lovely! I can't stand the drizzly, windy days we get in between though, when its just grey all day, its so depressing.

I wish we had proper snowy winters, like Enfys does, that looks fantastic! For the highlight of winter is going skiing in Austria in january.

Empty feed buckets sailing across the field in a hurricane wind.
Wellies being sucked off in gateways.
Wheelbarrows heavy with wet poo hitting a deep mud patch and abruptly stopping. And slowly falling over.
Carrying wet haynets.

These must be nice. Or why have I carried on doing this for so many years?
